SKATEBOARDS

2012 www.carverskateboards.com

What is Surfskate? Surfskate is a style of skateboarding that fLows through the paved landscape like a surfer on a wave. Historically skaters have loosened their trucks to get more of that surfIng carve, but surfboard performance has come a long way since standard skateboard trucks were designed. For a skateboard to snap and pump like a high performance surfboard, the front truck needs to turn more than the rear truck. Carver’s patented truck systems are designed to turn more at the nose, so now you can pivot off the tail and pump for so much speed you never have to put your foot down. This real surfIng dynamic means that what you learn on the pavement follows you right out into the water. And the workout you get means you’ll be crushing waves like never before, and progressing past where you ever thought you could. If you’re far from the ocean, or don’t’ even surf, it’s just fun to carve on all the hardtop that surrounds us like a giant concrete wave. Your driveway will never look the same. This is True Surfksate.

25.5” TYe STICK

29” Swallow

30.75” Revert

The little backpack-sized shredder has never been more functional. This micro-surfer has all the performance of a bigger board, while still keeping the compact portability we love about a mini. The CX 5.0” truck set-up and 65mm Mags take it to the next level in surfskate performance.

This little board handles like it’s namesake, fast and loose. The combination of short and wide is magic, because the shorter wheelbase makes pumping this board just effortless, but the extra width and concave makes it a comfortable cruiser, too, explaining why it’s been one of the longest running designs in the Carver line.

The old school shape isn’t just for looks, it’s wider where your feet go so you have the most leverage to control your turns. The deep sidecuts take weight out where you don’t need it so you end up with a surprisingly nimble fat boy. Artist Series graphic by Seattle-based Eatcho.

SURFSKATE SERIES

TYE STICK / SWALLOW / REVERT / RESIN / DA MONSTA / KNOX / GREENROOM

31” Da Monsta

31” Resin

The 31” Da Monsta is a collaboration with master shaper Todd Proctor from Ventura CA, and is a surfskate with the same look and feel of his popular ‘Da Monsta’ surfboard model. Described as ‘a surfboard you can skate on waves’, the pairing with our surfskate technology is just a perfect fit.

The narrow nose template and wide tail is just like your favorite squash-tail wave killer. It’s plenty wide and just the right length so you can snap and pump the flats with ease, and drop in to any hill with confidence.

These boards all feature a double-kick mold proFile that’s perfect for parks, banks and any kind of inclined transition. The front nose kick locks your front foot in place so you can take on the vertical wall with confIdence. This series works well with our C7 truck set for extreme surFing performance, but is particularly suited to our hybrid surfskate CX truck set. The CX’s light weight and increased stability makes ollies and airs a breeze, while still offering the snap and pump you want in a surfskate.

“IT’S THE CLOSEST THING TO SURFING, besides BEING IN THE WATER” - TAYLOR KNOX

31” Fort Knox Black

Taylor had a hand in every aspect of the design of his signature model, from the template shape and specs to the graphics. Everything is designed to work with Taylor’s style of power surfing, from the wide tail and nose to the trimmed wheelbase, which provides a bit more pumping speed. This is the board he cross trains on for strength and flow, carving it up and down the hills in front of his house like he’s ripping at J-Bay. L: 31” W: 9 7/8” N: 3 1/2” T: 6 3/8” WB: 16 3/4”

HOW TO PUMP with RICKY SCHAFFER

34” Greenroom Updated for 2012, this mid-sized board is the perfect retro rider; wide diamond tail for solid foot placement and stretched out wheelbase for wider stance and increased stability. 1 -Apply some heel-to-toe pressure, rocking the board back and forth. 2 -As in suRFINg, twisting the upper body into the direction you want to go will pull the board in that direction too. 3 -Coordinate the upper body twist with the heel-to-toe pressure and you will feel the board thrust forward.

33” Fraktal

36” Venice

Borrowing from the classic old-school pool board archetype, the Fraktal has a super wide tail; just like having a deck pad over your surfboard fins. The short wheelbase keeps it snappy and fun, and the nose kick locks your front foot into the ideal power stance.

Born on the streets and banks of Carver’s hometown neighborhood of Venice, CA, this stretched out shortboard is the same as the first prototype deck used to develop the original C7 truck. Big hill surfing, street traveling, bowl riding; this board does it all. Artist Series graphic portrait of Venice by Marco Almera.

36” LOLA Pintail

36” SPACEMAN Pintail

36” Venice Pintail

One of our most popular longboard lengths, the 36” Pintail is such a versatile street surfer because of its balance between wheelbase and deck length in combination with our patented surfing truck systems. The medium-long wheelbase is short enough to pump for speed on the flats, while the deck is long enough to either cruise to the market or get you down the biggest hills in town with full control. The pin-tail kick gives this cruiser the performance edge every serious longboard needs, with it’s back foot wedge for pumping from the tail or popping over cracks, and the forward-set front truck placement for a little added stability at faster carving speeds. LONGBOARD SERIES

VENICE / SPACEMAN / LOLA / PIPELINE / MAVERICKS

The classic longboard draws out your carves into smooth, controlled lines, but typically the longer wheelbase make them stiff and unresponsive. With Carver’s truck systems these big boards can pump and carve surprisingly tight lines, and still handle speed and hills with stability and style. These sticks are meant to perform, and are backed up by kicktails and spooned-nose concave for full functionality. And yet, with the generous length it’s easy to enjoy a cruise across town, too.

38” GULLWAVE

38” FACETIME

This funboard is stretched to the perfect cruising length, but still with plenty of agility and pump. The pulled-in template saves some weight so it feels like a smaller board, and we included the ever-necessary kick tail missing on so many boards this size. Artist Series graphics by renowned surf artist Matt Beard. L: 38” W: 9 3/4” N: 3 1/2” T: 6 3/4” WB: 23 1/2”

43” PIPELINES The long wheelbase gives so much, from the graceful, drawn out carves to the slight flex of the springy maple deck. Cruise the boardwalk with style, or step up the performance with the right amount of nose and tail leverage to pivot every one of those 43 inches with ease. Artist Series graphic by Ventura surf artist Erik Abel. L: 43” W: 9 3/4” N: 4 1/2” T: 7” WB: 27 1/4”

38” Chopsicle This little-big-board is the most versatile cut-away on the street. The name is a combination of the chopped-and-dropped trucks crossed with a traditional street skating popsicle stick. From flatland tricks to downhill sliding, this blend of symmetrical nose and tail and lowered platform delivers the performance for a new generation of trick skating. Intricate artwork by Seattle based Eatcho. L: 38” W: 8 3/4” N: 3 1/2” T: 3 1/2” WB: 26”

41” Drifter This symmetrical drop thru shape is built for speed. The 11 ply construction adds heft and stability, so whether your pushing across town through traffic or carving and sliding down a paved hill, the Drifter will hold your line without chatter, and the angled Gas Pedals along the rail help give your feet an extra edge for better control. Acclaimed skater and artist Jason Adams painted the Spaceman graphic. L: 41” W: 9 7/8” N: 2 1/2” T: 2 1/2” WB: 31”

FREERIDE SERIES

CHOPSICLE / DRIFTER / PLATYPUS

Always on the cutting edge of skateboarding, Carver has developed the next generation of Downhill, Freeride and Freestyle boards. Starting with the heart of any set up, we’ve perfected the standard RKP (Reverse King Pin) truck from years of prototyping and testing, targeting the latest developments in riding styles. Around this core we’ve built a solid quiver of cut away decks, each the embodiment of it’s own distinct riding style. Push culture has met surf culture, with lowered cruisers that turn and pump.

CARVER C7

The hanger pivots on standard skate bushings

SURF TRUCK

Made in the USA from premium 356 alloy.

The adjustable spring adjusts for any style

The arm rotates on smooth thrust bearings for fLuid pumping

This is the signature truck that started it all. Still the smoothest turning, fastest pumping surf truck ever, it’s at the leading edge of true surfskate performance. The patented second axis of this front truck not only increases the turning radius of your carve, but lets you snap the nose and pivot your turns off the tail. This dynamic creates thrust and drives you forward with increasing speed. The striking similarity to surfIng performance has made the C7 the choice for surf training by pros and ams alike. This truck is sold as a Set with the C2, or as a Truck Kit with wheels, bearings, risers, hardware and Pipewrench, and is available in 5.0” (7 5/8” axle width) or 6.5” (9” axle width).

There’s plenty of room around the bushing so the hanger can really turn

CARVER CX SURFSKATE TRUCK

The open bushing cup allows for a variety of bushing confIgurations

The baseplate is optimized for drop-thRu with it’s engraved logos and rounded body.

This is Carver’s hybrid surf and skate truck. On the one hand it’s a lightweight standard RKP (Reverse King Pin) hanger and base, on the other it has a patented geometry that squeezes every bit of turn and pump from the system. This means that you can pump this truck like a C7, but it lands airs and ride fakie with more stability as well. This opens up aerial maneuvers, and keys in with the latest progression of airs in surfIng. Updated for 2012, the more open bushing cup frees up the range of pivot so this truck can pump more than ever. This truck is sold as a Set with the C2, or as a Truck Kit with wheels, bearings, risers, hardware and Pipewrench, and is available in 5.0” (7 5/8” axle width) or 6.5” (9” axle width).

CARVER CV FREERIDE TRUCK

The hanger is wide and hollowed out underneath for the ideal weight-tostrength ratio. The baseplate is optimized for drop-thu with it’s engraved logos and rounded body.

This truck has been in development for years, the dark little secret we’ve been testing and perfection with our friends. It’s the traditional 50 degree RKP (Reverse King Pin) truck that we critiqued on a micro level and fIxed all the bugs. The straighter kingpin eases the rail a bit so you get a smoother range with fIrmer bushings, which stiffens up the center so pushing and speed are stabilized. The softer rail makes these trucks great hill carvers, and makes initiating a slide easier. This is a symmetrical pair of trucks sold as a Set. Available in 7.5” (10” axle width), fInished in Black Powdercoat or Stone Aluminum.

CARVER C2 BACK TRUCK

This classic conFiguration of skateboard truck is the rear pivot for both the C7 and CX sets. A great truck in it’s own right, it’s been tweaked to work in tandem with the extreme turning characteristics of our front trucks. The steeper kingpin increases the rail range, and the taller baseplate is the perfect match for our taller front trucks, creating a synchronized system that also helps prevents wheelbite. s

CARVER C4 SHORTBOARD TRUCK

Street and pool boards use smaller wheels, and fLip tricks benefIt from a tighter center of gravity, so these little rockers are lower and lighter, just like they need to be. But unlike most little trucks, which tend to be stiff and unresponsive, our custom geometry gives you just the right amount of carve for a well-rounded riding experience.

CARVER CV DROP IN®®

Pivot drops into cut out hole

The BASE stays fLush with the top of the deck so it doesn’t hang up on youR foot while riding.

The Drop Thru is thru! The Drop Thru base was always a funky work-around, a way to lower the height of a standard RKP truck. No one ever wanted a baseplate sticking up on the deck side! Carver has taken the same geometry and hanger from the CV and made a baseplate that still utilizes the same lowering principle of dropping the pivot through the deck, but we replaced the mounting fLange back to the bottom of the board where it belongs. Now standard mounting hardware is once again fLush with the deck, as is the base plate. Plus the smaller oval deck cut-out afforded by the streamlined base makes for a stronger deck. This is a symmetrical pair of trucks sold as a Set. Available 10” axle width, fInished in Black or Stone.

Roundhouse WHEEL SERIES - 65 mm / 70 mm / 75 mm

Carver Radials - 65MM

PIPEWRENCH

The Roundhouse Mag Wheel Series Our trucks are all about carving, and wheel traction is key, so we’ve designed a wheel that is all about grip and speed. The Mag is a delicate balance of a square-edged lip to maximize grip and a harder center profIle for speed. The key is in the shape of the lip; thin at the edge but quickly getting thicker, with a hollow relief near the core. What this does is create a spring-loaded, rebounding lip, so each time you pump for speed the wheel pumps back. And because the contact patch is nice and wide you can really dig into your rail and these wheels stick. Made in the USA from custom mixed urethane specifICally formulated for Carver’s new Roundhouse brand. The CARVER RADIAL SERIES WHEEL These 65mm wheels have the perfect combination of grip and slide properties. The soft 78A durometer urethane grips the road exceptionally well, but the rounded lip provides a nice breakaway point for slides and speed scrubbing. The center-set bearings allow you to rotate your wheels for even wear, extending their usable life. PIPEWRENCH This universal pocket shop measures in at under 2 1/2” in length, so it’s easy to bring along on a session for on-the-fLy adjusting. Made of tool-grade stainless steel, it won’t rust, break or wear out, guaranteed. The Allen key snaps on with a powerful neodymium magnet.
