T
he exSugar Factory of Foligno is situated in a strategic position, in front of the city wall/ city centre and between railway and the Topino river.
+
The site is closed since 1980, Coop Centro Italia has bought it few years ago. The thesis aim is to convert
+
the factory in order to ricapture an urban + space that can dialogue with the city centre and belong to city dwellers in spite of the real private property. A functional mix that respects private interests and public expectations, to preserve and develop the strong urban value of this area.

The flexible spaces at the first floor of the residential blocks are used for neighbourhood services or storage. The connection between these floors and the continuous end plate is a curving green surface with small trees or shrubs, that screen the South front of the housing blocks.

Dharavi’s slum is the biggest of Mumbai. The residual voids are used as garbage dumps, but also as meeting points and cricket grounds.
The project purpose is to reganerate these spaces by building raised islands where people can meet and stay and children are able to play, away fron waste.
The island is called Naan, like the traditional indian bread, and it’s an elevated structure that could potentially be used during the monsoon season.

Antonio Ravalli (www.antonioravalli.it) con Maria Alessandra Luccioli Read the space strating from the exitent elements: trees. Like pillar, trees support different kind of walls creating rooms and enclose spaces: Permeable walls by lines (to peg the washing), Green walls by egg plateau5x6 + moss and Ligh walls by plastic eggbox 2x3 and leds, like lanternes.
