Alex Schultz A new era was offi cially ushered in for the Community College of Aurora at the college’s annual Celebrating Connections event at the Hyatt Regency Aurora hotel. With over 150 local business leaders, political offi cials, school representatives, and other community members in attendance, new CCA President Mordecai Brownlee was formally introduced to the greater Aurora-Denver community. Brownlee, whose fi rst day as CCA’s president was Aug. 2, has brought a new energy and excitement to the college. Brownlee was vice president for student success at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio, only college federally designated as both a historically Black college (HBCU) and a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI).

National Western Stock Show Returns

The National Western Stock Show (NWSS) will return after a hiatus in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. after a hiatus in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rodeos, mutton busting, horse shows, shopping, livestock shows, shopping, and more will all be a part of the 2022 National Western Stock Show. Another wonderful event of the NWSS is the Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza. It features Mexican-style bull riding, bareback riding, trick roping, Mariachi music, side saddle riders, and the Portuguese-style bullfi ghts all choreographed by Jerry Diaz, a fourth-generation champion charro. The Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza is sponsored by Hutchison Western and Frontier Airlines.
