This work was commissioned with funds from Anvil Arts and the Philharmonia Orchestra as part of The Anvil, Basingstoke’s 18th Birthday celebrations and to mark the continuing relationship with the Philharmonia Orchestra as The Anvil’s Orchestra in Partnership. The premiere was given at The Anvil, Basingstoke on Friday 22 June 2012 by the Philharmonia Orchestra under its Principal Conductor & Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen. The London premiere was given at the Royal Festival Hall on 28 June 2012. Rivers to the Sea is dedicated to Esa-Pekka Salonen
