SAFE WATER STARTS WITH SCIENCE

WHY CHOOSE A PURIFIER? MAXIMUM PROTECTION

As more people visit popular wilderness sites, the risk of viruses increases. Since viruses are too small for microfilters to catch, a quality purifier provides adventurers with a reliable defense. In fact, our most advanced purifiers combat viruses, bacteria and protozoa, sediment, taste and odors, delivering one ultimate tool to do it all.

OUR WORLD-CLASS RESEARCH, DESIGN & TESTING

Our on-site water lab is staffed with scientists who individually test our devices to ensure greater safety and ease of use.

Every MSR hollow fiber filter and purifier features:

• A unique integrity check that allows the user to easily confirm that, if the device is dropped or frozen, the fibers haven’t been damaged and the device is working safely.

• An end-of-life indicator stops the filter media from passing water. This clearly identifies that it’s time to replace the cartridge without exposing the user to harmful pathogens.

• Passes NSF Protocol P231 throughout the filter’s life. The test confirms microbiological threat removal from a variety of water types, unlike NSF 42 and 53, which aren’t suitable tests for backcountry use.

NSF PROTOCOL P231 & P248 TESTING STANDARDS

Though backcountry water filters and purifiers are unregulated, NSF Protocol P231 and P248 provide scientifically accepted standards for testing them. Every MSR design passes a stringent test when challenged with what’s considered worst-case water (extreme levels of microbes, turbidity, etc.)—even at the end of its life. These standards are the best way to prove a device offers protection against real backcountry water types throughout its useful life.
