The quest has begun. Kasey Perry is seeking to join elite equestrian athletes in the pursuit of sustained excellence and a medal-winning future representing the United States in acclaimed international dressage competition.
The Passion of a Rising Dressage Star To that goal, she pairs her talent, her exuberance, her laser-sharp determination and the backing of her solid team. She has the good fortune to partner with two amazingly talented horses, a dedicated coach and a supportive family. However, one of the greatest challenges of equestrian sports is the high cost to maintain equine athletes in peak performance condition, and to train and compete at the elite level. To soften the financial pressure of her quest, Kasey is pursuing mutually beneficial sponsorships, both monetary and in-kind. She believes in the possibilities, and hopes you will show your belief by supporting her future.
JOIN TEAM BELIEVE
Kasey Perry, on the one hand, is a tough competitor with the determination to succeed. On the other hand, sportsmanship and building lasting bonds are inherent in her nature. Raised in a close-knit family with five siblings, Kasey lives by teamwork with her horses, family, coach, and fellow riders.
Kasey perry “My family involvement keeps me going and gives me the drive. I won’t let them down.” Horses came into her life at age five when she joined her sisters and mother to ride at a small community barn in Northern California. She rode Western, hunter/jumper, three-day eventing and, at 17, she recognized her passion for dressage when training with Gina Duran at Topline Training. As she was earning a degree in business entrepreneurship at California State University, Sacramento, she began training with Christophe Theallet, whom she later followed to Spokane, WA, when he moved his business. Christophe graduated from the ENE French Riding Academy in Saumur, France, and has ridden with numerous renowned trainers including Rudolf Zelinger, Patrick Le Rolland and Christilot Boylen. Kasey also has been fortunate to work with FEI 5* judge Anne Gribbons, Olympian Andreas Helgstrand and eventers Camila Richards and Gina Miles, silver medal winner, 2008 Olympics. Today, in Spokane, Washington, Kasey trains with the goal of developing happy and successful Grand Prix horses and to represent the United States in international competition.
TEAM PERRY Thriving on a team and for a team is a natural for Kasey. Her team members: Dad Robert, head cheerleader and trailer driver; Sister Holly, groom and photographer; Sister Amanda, project manager; Mom Diane, CEO; Christophe Theallet, coach.

equine partners Goerklingaards Dublet (Diamond Hit x La Costa/Olympic Ferro)
The 2003 Dublet arrived at the Perrys’ barn in November, 2012, after he placed second at the five year old Danish Warmblood Young Horse Championships with a 9.5 for “capacity”, and as a top 4th Level horse in 2010. Forming an instant bond with Kasey, the two competed in California February through June in 2013. By the year end, his national standing included USDF 3rd place, Intermediaire I, Adult Amateur. Kasey has found Dublet to be “the most gentle, loveable and playful personality. Yet at work he puts out 100 percent and always focuses on the job. When he’s done work, he turns into a giant teddy bear, loving human interaction and, I must say, his naps.” Kasey is working to qualify for the Intermediaire I Championship at the 2015 Pan American Games and to move him up to Grand Prix.
Dressage Kasey’s Sport, Kasey’s Art Dressage is a sport, an art, the foundation of all riding disciplines, and once was the training method for military horses, reaching back to ancient Greece.
Since early human history, horses have served as mounts for the military where obedience and maneuverability were keys to success on the battlefield. Thus a system of training, first documented by the Greek general Xenophon, evolved throughout the ages, with many well-known riding masters, military and civilian, writing books and treatises on their methods. Since 1912, dressage has been an Olympic sport that represents the highest level of a horse’s training. And yet that same harmonious and responsive relationship divined from proper dressage training can show itself equally between a young rider and her pony at the lower levels. Derived from the French word “dresser” meaning to train, dressage is a positive, progressive system of training that benefits the horse’s physical and mental health and well-being, and develops the horse’s full potential as an athlete and readiness to perform specialized movements, based on the horse’s movements in nature. The icing on the cake is that a dressage-trained horse is beautiful to behold. The horse learns to respond to subtle cues (or aids) from the rider. The less you see a rider do, the better, as that demonstrates the quality of her communication with the horse. That partnership asks for superior fitness, suppleness, balance and willingness on the part of both horse and rider. Today, the Spanish Riding School of Vienna and its famed white stallions are perhaps the most well-known representation of dressage, particularly as a classical art once practiced by the aristocracy of Europe. As a sport, dressage progresses through more difficult levels performed in test patterns, the highest being the Grand Prix test which is ridden at the Olympics as well as national and regional competitions. A kur is a freestyle incorporating compulsory movements choreographed to music.
“Suppleness and relaxation must come first in order for the more demanding work to become easy and beautiful. A horse that is loose and relaxed can become a big mover.
