Read what our customers have to say! X-rays told the tale, the bone spurs were still the root of Fame’s problem. When I left OKC I knew I would never run her again if I couldn’t find an effective solution. Knowing my situation, a friend told me to call TLC before I give up hope. I followed the suggestions to the letter, today x-rays reveal a clean hock and she is running great. ta m m y ow e n s

FLEX-FUEL can target the factors responsible for joint pain more effectively than any one ingredient can do. Sodium Hyaluronate improves joint fluid production. This is the gel-like fluid that helps lubricate the joint and reduce friction. Reduc-
ing joint friction may minimize wear and tear effects, keeping the joint in healthy condition longer. Glucosamine is known as the building block of cartilage. The body uses glucosamine to improve the rate of cartilage production. MSM is known for its ability to help neutralize the inflammation produced by tissue breakdown. Vitamin C & E are antioxidants which help to destroy free radicals that occur from cellular breakdown.

Recommended to support for horses with inflammation issues due to lack of lubrication properties within the joint. Please refer to the section on “Osteo-Fuel” if the horse has bony changes. These horses won’t have other connective tissue problems like tendons & ligaments, and the bones will not have been affected yet. See OSTEO-FUEL if these bony changes are evident.

Nutritional support for horses: • Navicular • Calcium deposits • Spurs/Splits • Fracture/Bone chips • Coffin bone degeneration or other bone trauma The elements responsible for healthy bone remodeling are more complex than simply ingesting calcium. Whenever an animal ingests the macrominerals used for bone health, a particular series of actions needs to be performed between these individual elements to ensure the proper utilization of the nutrients (more on this in the following sections). TLC’s EQUI-BONE follows 3 principles to help establish the most efficient use of these elements, which in turn will affect the way calcium is used in the body.
Support Circulation The bones within the hooves are known to be negatively affected by poor circulation. We utilize the B vitamin, Niacin, which is well researched for its ability to support blood flow and circulation. This property helps ensure that the nutrients reach their targeted destination effectively as the diameter of the blood vessels will actually increase.
Ideal Mineral Ratio for Calcium Solubility Improving the rate at which calcium is converted to liquid means that it will be in its ideal state to be absorbed by the bone cells. Ideally Vitamin D should be synthesized from the sun. This creates a negative feedback loop, so that the body can regulate how much calcium it needs to absorb in order to fulfill the metabolic processes within the body. When Vitamin D3 is provided through dietary means, such as almost every “complete feed” you’ll find on the market, it allows too much calcium to absorb through the digestive tract. This creates an environment where calcium levels are too high relative to the other nutrients responsible for converting calcium to its soluble form. When the calcium is not properly dissolved in the bloodstream, it cannot be used correctly for bone remodeling and rebuilding bone structure. In this case, the calcium shows
Feeding Directions During rehabilitation, give two scoops twice daily for 5 to 7-1/2 months, mixed with feed. Maintain thereafter on one scoop twice daily to effectively support the bodies ability to continually remodel bone successfully. *Based on 1,000-1,200 lb horse *See product label for a complete list of ingredients

Bone deterioration is a result of bone resorption, a process in which bone cells, called osteoclasts, break down bone. These cells remove the mineralized matrix of the bone by removing minerals, like calcium and transporting the degradation products away from the area, ultimately leading to a reduction in bone mineral density. Specific conditions relating to the mineral balance will greatly impact whether pH levels are alkaline or acidic, with the former being the preferable environment for successful bone remodeling. Acid-forming foods, or diets that are high in acid-forming minerals, known as “anions”, create conditions that influence lowering pH values. A diet with a low cation-anion balance will actually induce
eral balance in the body. So, to overcome these dietary contributors that allow bones to demineralize and become sensitive due to a reduction in the bone mineral content, you need to provide a specific ratio of highly bioavailable forms of minerals that are easily assimilated in the digestive tract to help the body achieve a more desirable mineral balance. EQUI-BONE does just that. With a proprietary high DCAB formulation based on years of research, EQUI-BONE promotes the bodies ability to retain calcium in its most soluble form. Over time, with the correct environmental conditions, as this study suggests, you can improve the rate of bone turnover and bone mineral density. These effects may not only support maintaining bone integrity, but may also support recovery from bone related issues.
A study by Baker, et. al titled: “Effect of dietary cation-anion balance on mineral balance in horses” tested horses on both a low DCAB (Dietary CationAnion Balance) diet and a high DCAB diet. The results suggest that horses consuming a diet with a lowered cationanion balance may be in a negative calcium balance. If prolonged, this could lead to an osteoporotic weakening of the skeletal system, which has been demonstrated in other species. On the other hand, those horses consuming the high DCAB (Dietary CationAnion Balance) diet had the largest positive daily calcium balance, therefore, feeding diets with a high DCAB could result in fewer injuries to exercising horses and less developmental orthopedic diseases in young growing horses due to a more desirable min-

calcium and other minerals to leach from the bones and eliminate through the horses urine with the animal being in a negative calcium balance. On the other side of this equation, alkaline-forming foods, or diets high in alkaline-forming minerals categorized as “cations” will allow the body to retain a higher percentage of the minerals, like calcium, responsible for the bone remodeling process.

up as a solid and it accumulates on top of the bone, while the body sends out signals for more, starting the whole process over again. Eventually this results in a larger, more painful deposit or spur. EQUIBONE will work to restore the nutrient balance responsible for supporting proper calcium solubility.

OSTEO-FUEL
Silicon Supplement for Collagen Synthesis & Subchondral Bone Support 4
Recommended for sport horses who are subjected to significant joint impact loading. This would be seen in horses where the bones are going to come in direct contact with one another with force where the cartilage and subchondral bone (soft portion of bone where it meets the cartilage) will be absorbing a significant amount of impact. i.e. hunter/ jumpers, race horses, eventers, cutting horses. These horses often have deteriorating cartilage and boney changes may be present. When horses are growing & developing, an element called silicon is highly abundant in the body and aids in collagen production for the initial formation of bones and connective tissues. But as the animal matures and ages, silicon becomes less prominent. As time goes on, this may compromise the flexibility and elasticity of the bones and also contribute to inadequate tissue production in and around the joints. The subchondral bone, which is the soft portion of the bone that forms where the cartilage begins, may be affected when it becomes overly dense. That is, without silicon to produce the elastic effect that portion of the bone needs, the more susceptible it is to damage as it isn’t able to effectively “absorb” the shock. Connective tissues like tendons, ligaments & cartilage may also be negatively
affected as their ability to heal and repair is diminished in the absence of silicon. While most supplements focus strictly on joint tissues, OSTEO-FUEL focuses on the collagen aspect of all major joint components; the bone, cartilage & tendon/ ligament tissues, which produces a more comprehensive approach to protecting joint health. Studies in young thoroughbred race horses show that horses supplemented with silicon (as Sodium Zeolite A) can train and race almost twice the total distance as horses not supplemented with silicon before suffering injuries. In a sport where injuries are inevitable, this is a very impressive statistic. There are several other key components that we include in this product, which may enhance the bodies ability to synthesize the nutrients specifically responsible for supporting the production of bone and cartilage tissue. *view website for nutrientspecific information.

For Horse Enthusiasts Who Want The Most From an “All-In-One” Product Many horse owners prefer to supplement their horses from a proactive standpoint to help horses recover from week to week during training and competition. If you are looking for a comprehensive multivitamin & mineral supplement that gets results then TLC’s Performance Horse MAX should be your choice! Performance Horse MAX is fully fortified to support the Performance horse in its entirety. Improve muscle tone, bone mineralization, collagen production, overall joint health, recovery time, feed absorption, healthier skin, coat, feet and much more. Performance Horse MAX features a bioavailable source of silicon. This element is responsible for the production of collagen, which comprises approximately 30% of bones and is the major component of connective tissues in and around the joints. Silicon is abundant in the body when the horse is growing & developing, but once mature and as the animal ages,
silicon becomes less prominent. As time goes on, the absence of silicon means less collagen production, which may compromise the flexibility & elasticity of the bones and also contribute to inadequate tissue production in and around the joints.
When you consider we’ve combined a highly bioavailable source of Silicon along with Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitin, Hyaluronic Acid & essential Omega-3 fats you quickly realize that this product proudly contains one of the most complete joint support profiles you’ll find in a Performance Multi-Vitamin / Mineral supplement anywhere on the market! *If rehabilitation from a bone or joint related injury is needed, consider EQUIBONE, FLEX-FUEL or OSTEO-FUEL. * View website for full product analysis & additional product details.

Mega Hoof Complex
Support Healthy Hoof Development
There are several elements required for the development of a healthy hoof - they include zinc, copper, biotin and the amino acids l-Methionine & l-Lysine. Each of these elements have their own role in supporting specific attributes within the components that make up the hoof, itself. The lack of any one of these elements may cause issues with hoof integrity, so focusing on the entire profile of nutrients responsible for healthy hoof development has an advantage over a “Biotin only” supplement. These elements are researched to expedite hoof growth rate, strengthen the protein bonds, which make the hoof stronger & harder, as well as add moisture and density to the hoof wall & sole. TLC’s Mega Hoof Complex is a unique blend designed to provide all of the nutrients needed to build strong, healthy hooves as quickly as possible. Feed Mega Hoof Complex to horses with slow growing or poor quality hooves. May be fed along with Advanced Heel Complex to specifically support accelerated heel growth.

Laminitis (or “founder”) may have a devastating association with EMS. Laminitis is a painful and debilitating disease of the digital laminae (the Velcro-like tissue that attaches the coffin bone and hoof wall). Often by the time clinical signs are recognized, crippling body changes
such as sinking and rotation of the coffin bone have occurred. The coffin bone can only rotate so far before it threatens to pierce through the sole of the foot. Since these horses are typically on limited forage, we have added additional nutrient support with zinc, copper, selenium & Vitamin E as well.

I.R. SUPPORT
Aiding in proper blood sugar management is very important for horses with this predisposition because if insulin levels are allowed to get out of control, they may cause irreversible tissue damage within
the hoof. I. R. Support works to support the insulin resistant horse with several components researched for their favorable effect on insulin sensitivity and blood glucose levels.
Support for Horses with Insulin Resistance
Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) likely begins with a genetic pre-disposition. Certain breeds of horses & ponies are predisposed and often referred to as “easy keepers” by their owners. These horses are very efficient at utilizing calories and often require a lower plane of nutrition to maintain body weight than other horses, which is why EMS is a metabolic disorder.

This unique, one-of-a-kind blend is given to balance the nutritional requirements for a horse that has trouble holding weight, when not the result of a problems with teeth, parasites, ulcers or calorie deficiency. i.e. if you increase the horses caloric intake and are unable to establish weight gain, then giving more calories is likely not the answer and a deficiency in the mineral supply may be responsible. Muscle Max is designed to focus on increasing the phosphorus delivery, along with HMB, a derivative of the essential amino acid, l-Leucine. Together, these nutrients are responsible for both volumizing the muscles and reducing muscle tissue breakdown. The goal is to achieve the full, round look a healthy horse should possess. Typical signs of a mineral deficiency that inhibit weight gain are visually indicated by a diminished quality in the muscularity of the topline and a squared off rump. Most horses will show improvement in the first month, and one container will get them back on track. So feed Muscle Max for the first 2-4 months and TLC’s Performance Plus Daily for proper maintenance of the mineral balance. *Available in powder only
