LILLY
Community Foundation names 2012 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar
I love it when I log into CassCountyCalendar. com and have a whole list of events waiting to be approved. It’s a cheap thrill, but there’s always a huge feeling of anticipation when I see that we have “pending events.” It could be a Michelle Laird DIALS Editor/publisher yard sale, a festival, a book sale, a fundraiser — there are always so many possibilities! As I write this, there are 752 active events listed on www.casscountycalendar.com, and they include events all the way through January 2013! Did you know that the comprehensive plan for the city of Logansport actually encourages

the use of Cass County Calendar as the “official events calendar?” How cool is that? If you’re not familiar with CassCountyCalendar, it’s published by Cass County Communication Network, just like Cass County INFO, the newspaper you’re reading right now. The easiest way to describe it is that it’s website with a database of local events. It’s available 24/7 at www.casscountycalendar.com, and it’s TOTALLY FREE to post an event. The only requirements are that the event is open to the public, of interest to Cass County residents, and has a start time and an end time. (It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway — it also has to be legal.) So live music, real estate open houses, garage sales, church activities, worship services, fundraisers, bake sales, festivals — they’re all welcome. I check the site daily and post upcoming events on the Cass County Calendar Facebook page. I also pull events from the calendar for a weekly update on Thursday mornings on Mix 102 and Hoosier Country 103.7. AND, we have an e-mail newsletter where we’ll deliver a list of upcoming events right to your inbox. We also include events in Cass County INFO, which is actually how the whole idea came about. I was visiting so many websites looking for local events, I thought there had to be an easier way to get an overview of what’s going on in the community on a particular day. That also makes it a great resource for folks who are planning events and don’t want to conflict with another upcoming activity! So, when you’re looking for something to do, head to www.casscountycalendar.com and see what’s going on! And check back often — new events are added daily! Local advertisers make all of our free services possible, so please be sure to support them, and thank them! And if you’d like to learn more about how you can advertise with Cass County Communication Network, we’d love to hear from you!
