Welcome Good evening fellow patrons, donors, family and friends of Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre. I would like to extend a warm welcome to each returning and first-time attendee. 2014 marks our 43rd year of bringing live musical theatre to Grand County, Colorado. We are very proud that this is also our 17th year of providing a summer youth President theatre workshop, for our young patrons aged 7 through 18.Yes, we are a vibrant and growing organization which strives to bring the arts and music together in one place which we proudly call RMRT. Please let me elaborate on a few of our accomplishments during the past year: 2013 was the Kickoff Campaign of the RMRT Endowment Fund. I am honored to report that we received donations from numerous RMRT patrons, such as yourselves, who believe in the excellence of this organization and had the foresight to give financially in the sum of $130,000 to insure its viability. To continue growing as a home of artistic excellence we have set a goal of $1,000,000 which will build a foundation for our future. One-time donations, annual pledges, estate planning, formal bequests and charitable trusts are all options which we will be happy to discuss with you at your convenience. We also received a generous gift from the Steve Baltz family in 2013. This gift was given in the form of two properties in Grand Lake – one

“Who Am I?”

Artistic Director

It is the central question that Jean Valjean asks of himself in Les Misérables, from that character’s first scene until the show’s moving conclusion. The asking of that question motivates nearly every move Valjean makes, and keeps us all interested in the show’s incredible drama until the final soulstirring moments.

It is also a question that we here at RMRT ask ourselves pretty frequently—“Who are we?” To a great many of you—our patrons—we are the highlight of your summer. You tell us that all the time—in emails, on our Facebook page, or directly to us in the lobby after the show. You come back again and again, you sign up to be subscribers (which we love!), and you motivate nearly every move we make. When you talk to me in the lobby, and you share your thoughts with me, it convinces me that we know who we are—a top notch source of entertainment, bringing artistic work of high quality nearly every night of the summer. We hope you’ll tell your friends, and we hope you’ll keep coming back year after year. At the same time, we are also something very different to a large number of people. We are an economic force. This humble not-for-profit

property across Grand Avenue from the theatre and one property adjacent to our theatre and office facilities. With the addition of these two properties we are able to provide additional housing for our company members and to, one day, hopefully construct a much needed set production facility. Because this amazing gift was given to us in the fall of 2013 we have been able to spend the winter and spring months remodeling six units in the building. This facility is called Frieda’s House as requested by the Baltz family. Several of our company members are staying there this summer. In early 2014 RMRT underwent a reorganization of our artistic and administrative structure. As we continue to grow and move into the 21st century our organizational structure must match the growth of our everchanging facilities, properties and administrative requirements. With this new structure the Board of Directors believes a good balance has been achieved in the running and basic support of RMRT. So you see RMRT is growing in size and improving in ability to bring to you the very best musical theatre we believe we can offer. But have no fear we still believe in our roots. We appreciate our patrons and donors. We value the respect and encouragement we receive from the community of Grand Lake, our home for so many wonderful years. To each of you reading this playbill tonight we want to shake your hand, show you to your seat and THANK YOU personally for your support – You are the reason we are here. So please sit back, relax and Enjoy the Show! Judy K. Jensen — President RMRT

provides employment for a large number of people every year—some year-round and some seasonal. I’m so proud that we have members of our Company this summer who are back for their fourth, fifth, sixth, or even seventh year with us. Some of our staff members are nearing a decade with RMRT, and I personally have racked up nearly 20 years! And yet, this is not the whole story. Since our founding—as the Troupe of American College Players back in 1966, we have been a training ground for hundreds of young, talented actors, singers, dancers, instrumentalists, technicians, designers, and directors. It is a constant source of pride to us at RMRT to see young artists whom we hired directly out of college go on to thriving careers in all aspects of the greater theatre community. As we grow in our new home, RMRT is emerging with a national presence, becoming a respected regional theatre, and we now welcome back actors who have started with us, gone on to advance their careers elsewhere, and then return to our Grand Lake stage. So, who are we? We are your theatre company. We are Grand Lake’s theatre company. And we’re thrilled that we’re part of your summer. Thanks for coming tonight. Michael Querio — Artistic Director

Our Mission Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre’s mission is to stimulate, promote and develop interest in the performing arts in Grand County, Colorado, and the surrounding region through live theatrical productions and youth theatre educational workshops..

Donate Today Did you know that the revenue from your ticket supported only 58% of tonight’s show?

For 43 years, RMRT has strived for the highest levels of artistic excellence, assembling elite, professional talent from over 1,200 national auditions to bring you a summer to cheer for! Our goal is to provide fine theatre at affordable prices, knowing that doing so provides a positive aesthetic to our patrons and community, and impacts local economies. Last season, 19,000 people came to our wonderful town to go to the theatre — their non-theatre expenditures bringing valuable revenue to local businesses. Ticket sales only support 58% of our general operating budget. As we celebrate another summer, we are counting on your generosity to continue to fill that 42% operating budget void. Every donation, of any size, makes a tremendous difference. As a thank you for your generous gift, we’ll continue to produce the quality theatre you’ve come to expect from RMRT. Quite simply, it is not possible to do what we do without you Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre is a Colorado Nonprofit Corporation; all donations are tax deductible up the the maximum allowed by law.
