AROUND THE SCHOOLS
Good Counsel College On Show puts educational facility in spotlight MARIA GIRGENTI GOOD Counsel College on Show has been hailed a huge success where 150 visitors were welcomed by students and experienced a taste of what the College has to offer as a top educational facility. Principal Cathy Barrett said it was a time to be very proud of our College and our journey to make this school the very best we can make it. “Our College is in a good place at this time in its history and we have much to be thankful for with the ongoing support of our staff, students and their families,” said Ms Barrett. Activities included multiple stage performances by GCC Dancers, and even a mock trial performed by our legal studies while College captain Codi Spokes shared her musical talents. Talented and energetic Arts Captains Brodie Alder and Bronte Tranby-White demonstrated their commitment to the arts and wonderful ability to perform across each of the arts disciplines. Four of the College’s Year 11 drama students Molly Stager, Jessica Ghi-
etti, Danielle Millard and Amie Millard shone a light on Shakespeare and Commedia dell’ arte with drama performances that were enjoyed by an eager audience. There were also calligraphy demonstrations, a Lion Dance and Tai Chi performance while hospitality students ran a coffee shop, pottery activities and netball demonstrations. Student leaders took visitors on a tour of some of our facilities including the library, technology and science classrooms where they could join in a class to see experiments, displays and robotics demonstrations, the Trade Skills Centre, CHC (multipurpose court) and gym. The tour also went through Mary’s Place where there were further displays and performances, a P&F Association sausage sizzle while the leadership team and other staff were on hand to answer questions.
