Footprints If you ask people what they will do if they win the lottery, more than 80% of them will answer: travelling. We humans like to travel. For most people, travelling equals freedom. Offering such freedom through travel is what Cast Away Travel is all about. We take all our combined experience and knowledge and translate this into unique flyfishing adventures. Our motto is ’adventure is only one cast away’; and it is not just a nicely sounding motto, it is actually true! I was lucky to have many opportunities to travel. I travelled halfway around the globe, and to many remote places. And the more I travelled, the more I realised that you don’t have to travel to the other side of this planet to experience adventure. True adventure can be found anywhere. The reason we choose to offer flyfishing trips to Scandinavia and not to such high-profile destinations as Argentina’s Patagonia or Russia’s Kola Peninsula is because we believe that Scandinavia actually offers a better package than those destinations. You won’t find a better combination of freedom, adventure, fly-fishing opportunities, wildlife, overall scenery, and value on this planet. Sayings: In the marine corps we had a saying: ‘the good thing about leaving is coming home’. And it is true. You’ll have new stories to tell, about new people you met and new things you did. The Dream Stream
The first time I encountered grayling was on a slow-moving part of the river Kyll in the German Eifel. It immediately felt different from what I was used to (trout). Not only the take but also the way grayling puts on a fight. In time I would come to recognize this behaviour as typical for grayling. Over the years I got a little hooked on grayling and I am not the only one. A man and his mission: Together with the river boards of Tolga and Tynset Hein van Aar instigated the Kvennan Fly Fishing (KFF) zone, with very strict regulations, on one of the most famous stretches of the river Glomma. Now, (2018), the results are very clear: the number of large grayling, measuring 40+ cm, is very high. Scientific research shows that there is an abundant insect life in this 16 km long stretch of Glomma, and that the amount of prey fish such as sculpin and minnows is staggering. Another thing research indicates is that spawning grounds, summer feeding grounds, as well as the places in the river for overwintering are located in the same river stretch included in the KFF zone. All the research, together with the fly fishing reports over the past years, indicates that the Kvennan Fly Fishing stretch has the highest grayling stock in Norway. We can truly speak about a dream stream.
We started the Glomma + concept last year. The reason is that we experienced first hand how much quality fishing time is lost by driving to the supermarket to shop for groceries, and preparing meals every day.
Your accommodation is located at the fo-rest side of of the Glomma. Besides the creek which flows into the Glomma. Small trout are using this creek to grow until they are strong enough to migrate into the mighty Glomma river.

Kvennan fly-fishing zone The Kvennan fly fishing zone is a 16 km long fly fishing only zone between the towns Tolga and Tynset. In this zone you will encounter the best grayling fishing in Norway. In size as in numbers. In co-operation with Nordic Guiding we offer day trips to 6 rivers and lakes in the Glomma area. These rivers hold a very good stock of large grayling, pike and trophy trout.

Hardingervidda is as rough as it’s huge. There is a good chance you catch your dream trout. But there is one but, you have to be able to get to the water. The lake shores and surrounding land are mostly marshes and bogs. Fishing from shore is not always possible. A float tube or other fishing vessel is imperative. Your guide will help you to find good fishing grounds.

Sea Trout In the shadow of the doubt
The Fishing
Doubt Sea trout are known as the fish of a thousand casts. Not because they are particularly difficult to catch, but they do have to be present and around to catch them :) In spring, they rarely show themselves. In the beginning it therefore can feel a little overwhelming. Big water; where to begin? But with a little help from your guide, and after a few hours, you are going to recognize the good spots. And doubt is fading away and replaced by confidence.
Sea trout fever As it happens, it happens slowly. It sneaks up on you. It often starts with moderate enthusiasm, but it is bound to culminate in: ‘I am going to buy a house here’. I have seen grown men wading over their waders, filling them with ice-cold water, just so to be able to cast to that distant sea trout. Dripping wet and half-submerged fishermen with a grotesque smile from ear to ear. Sea trout hunters, having seen a “turner”, ending up (effortlessly) casting for it for over one hour. only to have it turn out to be seaweed. “But it could have been...”. It is when you know the sea trout fever is on and no medicine in the world can cure it.

Swedish Lapland back to basic
The Fishing
Back to basics. That is what our Sweden trips epitomize. A helicopter drop-off from Ritsem or Kvikkjokk into the wild, a pick-up at a designated rendez-vous seven days later, and total solitude in between. It’s all up to you. Arctic char, trout and grayling are most common; you may also encounter pike and perch, depending on the type of water. You will have to cross small and big rivers, and lakes, while making your way back to the pick-up spot. Some rivers may seem too small to hold big fish, but you may be in for a pleasant surprise. Even here in the wild lands of the arctic you need to be wary and move with stealth. Fish are easily spooked in these crystal clear waters.

STORA SJÖFALLET Stora Sjöfallet From Stora Sjöfallet you can fly to one of Europe’s best streams for Grayling fishing; the Kaitum Stream in the midst of the Lapland wilderness. If you are looking to catch large Grayling and Brown Trout, there is no better place to go! The stream starts in the famous Tjirtjam (Sircam) and runs all the way to the outlet in Kalix River. The most popular part of the stream includes Spannet, Tjirtjam, Tjuonajokk, Taiveksavo, Kukkaksavu, Liettiksavu and Riehkku, a distance about 45 km of crystal clear fishing grounds. Species: Grayling, Brown Trout, and Arctic Char.

Valtajåkkå
From Kvikkjokk base you fly to Sartavagge where you can catch nice trout and arctic char. Along this river only fly fishing is allowed. You can also fly to Tarraätno around the waterfall by Luoppal which has become more and more popular. Here you can catch arctic char and trout.
Around Valtajåkkå we fish in both streams and small lakes in the area, mainly for trout and arctic char. You can chose between the lower parts (more challenging) or the more popular area is the middle of the river (easier to set-up camp). You can check out lake Läipajaure close by. In the top part of the river you can also fish in the small lakes Tjårrekjaure and Njallojaure.
Adventures on this scale are custom made adventures.
In Kvikkjokk we offer a combination with Tarraure and Silesjaure.
Sårkåjåkkå
This area offers large species of Brown trout and Grayling. To ensure that the stream is not overexploited you will need a special fishing permit provided free of charge from the Jokkmokk Tourist Information or at our base in Kvikkjokk. The length of the stream is about 5 km and is surrounded by beautiful old forest.
In Sårkåjåkkå you can find both streaming and calmer stretches. Here you can catch both arctic char and trout.
lake Kutjaure By the lake Kutjaure you can fish both in the lake and also in Vuojatätno, a relatively wide and streaming river with both arctic char and trout.
Ritsem lakes In the deep crystal clear water you will find large arctic char and brown trout in the lakes surrounding Ritsem. For more information please contact us
We offer a wide range of possibilities for example: Are you going to walk or do you need kayak’s? Would you like us to provide material or do you prefer to use your own? Do you book your own accommodation before the helicopter drop off day, or do you like us to book you a lodge / hotel? Before we do the math, we need to know your wishes. After we have all the info we create the best trip and price for you and your compagnions.
Expedition Spitsbergen to go where no man has gone before
The expedition In April/May 2019 we will organize an expedition to Spitsbergen. We are looking for 6/7 die-hards to join us on a tryout trip, before we offer this trip to our regular guests. ‘To go where no-one has gone before’. Well, at least not with a fly rod!
Over the past months we have been gathering an awful lot of information about water, fish, licenses, polar bears, guns, laws, transportation to and from Longyearbyen. But because we are the first humans on the planet to try this, all of this is just theory, until we actually get there...
The expedition
That is why we will do it expetion-style first. Before offering this adventure of a life-time trip on a regular basis, we’ll do a tryout trip. We don’t call it an expedition for nothing. There will still be a lot to explore, investigate, find out, and experience. Weather, polar bears, and red tape can all present obstacles that we’ll have to overcome. But imagine the scenery. With a fly rod in your hand. Fishing for Arctic char and .....and..... Oh man!! So we’ll keep you posted via our travel blog! Prices about € 1750,- based on flights from Amsterdam Including two layovers in oslo (2-person bedroom) and return - accommodation on Spitsbergen including breakfast Not included are: meals except for breakfast -transport on Spitsbergen (snow shoes - snowmobile - boat -dog sled et cetera).
Terms & Conditions General information Cast Away Fly Fishing provides all inclusive travel through Scandinavia Prices in Euros. Prices are per person per trip. All prices are subject to change. The published rates are based on the prices and conditions that were known at the time of publishing the price lists. We reserve the right to change the prices if there is reason to do so due to price rises from third parties, exchange rate changes or fuel surcharges or ferry prices, et cetera. If the travel duration is stated in days, the day of departure and the day of arrival count as full days. How to make a reservation? You can reserve by telephone, mail and through the website. Here you provide us with all necessary information about yourself and your fellow travellers. We will then send you a confirmation including invoice with all the details of your trip. Last minute bookings Last Minute bookings (from 31 days before departure) will be processed if this is deemed technically feasible by us and if you pay the travel sum per internet banking or cash. For all Last Minute bookings you pay a Last Minute surcharge of â‚Ź 15 per booking. Changes in traveller number Up to 28 days before the day of departure, as far as possible, changes can be made to the number of participants. This is on condition that the new travel sum is paid in time. The change costs are â‚Ź 30 per booking. Terms of payment As soon as you have received our confirmation and attached invoice, you have to within 7 days transfer the down payment to our bank account. The amount of the down payment is always at least 75%. This in order to guarantee unique accommodations, transport and guides. The remaining travel sum must be credited to our bank account no later than 6 weeks before the day of departure.For bookings within 7 weeks before the day of departure, the entire travel sum must be paid. Cancellation by the traveller Should you have to cancel the trip due to circumstances, we will charge an amount on the basis of the table below, in addition to the reservation costs. Only written cancellations will be processed. Cancellation policy: - cancellation up to and including 49 days before the day of departure: we charge the deposit - in case of cancellation up to and including 28 days before the day of departure: we charge 50% of the travel sum - in case of cancellation up to and including 21 days before the day of departure: we charge 75% of the travel sum - cancellation up to and including 14 days before the day of departure: we charge 100% of the travel sum Cancellation by Cast Away Fly Fishing We have the right to cancel a trip if the number of registrations is less than the minimum (3 persons) numbers are stated on the website and/or our online magazine. This applies to all our trips. If we inform you within two weeks before departure that the trip will not take place, you are not entitled to compensation. The fully or partially paid travel sum will be refunded within two weeks.

Magazines / websites and other communication published by Cast Away Fly Fishing: The offer in our magazines and website is without obligation and can be revoked if necessary. We can not be held liable for obvious errors and / or mistakes in the programs. We are not responsible for photographs, brochures and other information material issued by third parties. Prices The published prices are based on rates, levies, cash prices and taxes as we were aware of when our price lists were published. After the full travel sum, 7 weeks before departure, has been paid, we will in principle not change the prices. However, we have the right to increase prices up to 20 days before the start of the trip due to an extreme change in exchange rates or extreme increases in transport costs, taxes and charges. We will inform you how this price increase has been realized. If we increase the prices in the meantime, you have the right to cancel the trip. This must be done within 3 working days after receipt of our notification. You are then entitled to a refund of the funds already paid. In place of The passenger may be replaced by another person provided that this request is submitted in time for the start of the journey. The following conditions apply: A. The substitute must meet the conditions of the trip in question. B. The request must be submitted no later than 14 days before departure or in any case so timely that all required actions / formalities can be performed. C. The conditions that the service providers use within the program allow one-in-place. D. Any remaining travel sum, plus the change costs a € 30 plus any extra communication costs and any extra costs as a result of the replacement, must be with us before departure to be inside.
Our responsibility is to execute the journey in the best possible way, including the services of our service providers. We can not be held liable for the failure or failure to carry out a travel agreement if the shortcomings are not due to our fault. If you get into trouble during the trip, we are obliged to help you as much as possible. Any costs are for our account if the shortcomings are due to our debt. If the problems are due to you, the costs of the aforementioned help are for your account. We are not liable for any damage resulting from the improper performance of the trip if the shortcomings in the execution are attributable to you. If, in relation to you, we are liable for loss of travel enjoyment, the compensation will not exceed the travel sum. Commitment of the traveller You are obliged to comply with all instructions from us to promote the proper execution of the journey. A traveller who causes such a burden or annoyance that the proper execution of the journey is endangered, can be excluded by the travel organization from (continued) the journey. All costs resulting from this will be borne by the traveller. If the traveller does not object to the exclusion, the entire travel sum or part thereof can be refunded. You are obliged to report any negligence in the execution of the travel agreement to the service provider in question as soon as possible (preferably in writing). Complaints Despite all our preparations and care, it is possible that you believe you have a justified complaint. This complaint must be submitted urgently (within 48 hours) to the service provider on site, preferably in writing. If you fail to do so, you are in principle not entitled to “compensation” in any form whatsoever. Logically, a complaint can be handled much more easily by the service provider on the spot than after your homecoming! If the complaint can not be resolved satisfactorily on the spot, it can be submitted in writing to our customer service department within one month after returning home. Complaints that come later can unfortunately not be processed. If it concerns a complaint that we have to send abroad, it is very important that you also send a translation in English in addition to the Dutch letter. Information Upon departure you must be in possession of the following documents: a valid and not expired passport or (where permitted) a tourist card, any required visa, proof of vaccinations and vaccinations, driving license and green card. You must obtain the necessary additional information from the authorities concerned and check well in advance that the information provided previously has not been changed. If you can not make the trip (entirely) due to the lack of one or more of the above documents, you are responsible for the consequences. Changes by Cast Away Fly Fishing We have the right to change the travel agreement due to important circumstances. Within 96 hours (4 working days) after the weighty circumstances have occurred, we have to offer you an alternative offer. If you do not agree with the alternative you can cancel the trip free of charge. This must be done within 3 working days after receiving the message about the change. If we find that one or more parts of the trip are not feasible after you have left, we will provide suitable alternatives with a view to the continuation of the journey. If this proves impossible, we will arrange for an equivalent means of transport to bring you back to the place of departure. We are obliged to inform you of any changes in departure times. This obligation does not apply to the outward and return journeys if your place of residence is not known to us.
