VIEW360 BELONGING AT CASTILLEJA

Meeting Changing Needs

Over a century ago, Castilleja was founded on ideals of equity in education as Mary Lockey worked to create opportunities for young women to prepare to succeed in college. A century later, Castilleja’s commitment to equity in education has grown to include a robust Tuition Assistance program that assures students with different financial needs all have access to this transformational education. This year, in the face of COVID-19, our definitions of equity shifted again as the pandemic created new hardships for families, and our campus closure required new strategies to support our students in the distance learning setting.

Our students practice initiative, agility, and purpose as core leadership skills, and throughout this spring Castilleja’s leaders applied those skills while working to meet the changing needs of our community.

Benefiting Tuition Assistance

Since it began 13 years ago, View360 has always been a thought-provoking and inspiring symposium that brings our community together in support of Castilleja’s tuition assistance program. This annual fundraising effort makes it possible for all qualified students to attend, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. View360 has raised over $11M, comprising almost 30% of our annual tuition assistance budget. This year’s community event was canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings. Nevertheless, our resilient community overcame this challenge and raised over $1.1 M to meet our tuition assistance goals.
