BIOGRAPHY Brazilian-born and Miami-made, Romero Britto is an internationally renowned, iconic pop artist that uses vibrant colour, playful themes and hard-edged compositions to capture the attention of both youthful spirits and educated art collectors. Self-taught at an early age, Romero was encouraged to travel to the United States where Pop Art was flourishing. With an unshakable resolve and belief in his own art, Romero spent the next few years exhibiting and attracting the attention of many before coming into his own and travelling to Paris, where he was introduced to the works of Matisse and Picasso, which influenced him to create an iconic style that The New York Times described as,“exudes warmth, optimism and love.” It is this unique talent which has established Romero
Britto's reputation and granted him widespread international recognition. Romero’s pop sensibility has lent itself to many collaborations over the years with international brands such as Audi, Bentley, CocaCola, Disney, Evian, Hublot, Mattel, and Technomarine. Romero Britto is an artistic activist for charitable organizations worldwide and most importantly, an artist who believes "art is too important not to share." He serves as a benefactor, donating time, art and resources to more than 250 charitable organisations. A firm believer in the role of an artist as an agent of positive change, Romero Britto is committed to developing and supporting the powerful role art plays in world issues. Romero Britto Is known for his optimistic outlook on life, a quality that has made him both successful and served as the essence of his artistic inspiration. Never forgetting his rise from humble beginnings or appreciation for his supporters, charity and mentorship are top priorities for the generous artist. A life-long dreamer, the young Romero Britto excelled academically in hopes of a brighter future, but he longed for an outlet for creative expression. Because of this, Romero Britto focuses his philanthropic efforts on engaging children in arts education and literacy programs. Through his namesake company, Britto Central, Inc., he serves as a benefactor, donating time, art and resources to more than 250 charitable organisations, including Best Buddies International, Miami Children’s Hospital and the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, among many others.

Pop Artist Romero Britto is born in Recife, Brazil.
1979
First exhibition at the Organization of American States in Brasilia, exposing the artist to a large audience.
1983
Travels throughout Europe to explore creative ideas and gets inspired by the art of Picasso and Matisse.
1986
Shows his work in London and Sweden in his first European Kulturhucet Exhibit, Stockholm, Sweden.
1988
Moves to Miami, where the Pop Art movement is flourishing.
1989
Absolut Vodka commissions Romero Britto to join their esteemed group of artists including Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. Romero’s art is exposed to millions of people on the Absolut Vodka bottle, essentially launching his career.
1994
Opens his Lincoln Road gallery on Miami Beach.
1997
The Walt Disney Company commissions "Mickey's World" & "Mickey's Greatest Love".
1997
Christies auctions "Mickey's Greatest Love" serigraph to benefit Best Buddies International.
1999
Designs Carlos Santana’s set at the First Annual Latin Grammys.
1999
Opens his Wynwood studio.
2000
Creates a series of fibreglass cows to support the Cow Parade in NYC, a public art event that has raised over $20 million for non-profit organisations worldwide since 1999.
2000
Romero Britto represents the USA along with artist Robert Rauschenberg to paint the longest painting in the world, The Wall of Life, for Doctors Without Borders in Dubai.
2001
Creates his iconic "Flying Heart", which has since become his signature symbol.
2002
Norman Braman asks Romero Britto to paint the new Mini-Cooper reintroduced by BMW.
2003
Absolut Vodka commissions Romero Britto to design their 25th Anniversary bottle.
2003
Designs deck of the Royal Caribbean, Mariner of the Seas.
2004
Miami commissions a welcome sculpture from Romero to greet guests at Miami City Hall, Florida.

Commissioned by the city of Sao Paulo to commemorate the 450th anniversary with a limited-edition stamp collection.

Appears on The Apprentice, with Donald Trump.

Paints a mural for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
2007
Collaborates with Cirque du Soleil for a Britto themed theatrical production for NFL Superbowl XLI pre-show.

Creates the largest artwork ever to be exhibited in Hyde Park, London, England in celebration of Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibition

Eunice Kennedy Shriver presents "Friendship Bear" sculpture to the City of Berlin and Anschutz Entertainment Group, on behalf of Best Buddies.

Romero Britto’s "Millie the Bunny" makes her debut at the White House for the Easter Egg Hunt. The 48 inch sculpture is now a permanent part of the White House National Archive.
