High Performance Strength on a Wide Range of Substrates
AbraCor Express ®
COATING • Emergency repairs made in-situ • Cures in less than two hours, reducing downtime • Excellent bonding characteristics • Requires no special tools to use and apply • Fraction of the cost of part replacement
DESCRIPTION:
TECHNICAL DATA:
Express is a two-part epoxide system consisting of a hardener and a resin. When mixed, the components react and cure to form a high performance composite coating that is machinable and bonds tenaciously to a wide variety of base materials including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, copper, copper alloys, aluminum and many rigid nonmetallic surfaces. Metallic powders are added in exacting proprtions to increase the hardness, abrasion resistance and machinability of Express coatings. Express coatings are functionally cured in less than two hours, allowing parts to be returned to service quickly, minimizing downtime.

PROCESS PARAMETERS:
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: 1) Remove oil, grease and scale from the surface to be coated. To ensure optimum adhesion, roughen by grit blasting to achieve a 0.002-0.003 inch profile. For smaller areas, roughening with a grinding wheel or course sandpaper is acceptable. NOTE: For Shaft repair applications, undercut the worn area a minimum of 1/16” and prepare by machining 20 threads per inch. 2) Combine entire contents of resin and hardener, then mix until uniform, streak-free, dark gray color is achieved. 3) Spread evenly over the surface with a putty knife, spatula or towel. Press the material into cracks and voids to eliminate air bubbles. Pot life is about 4 minutes at 75°F (24°C). 4) Postheating with a heatgun/heat lamp held about 15”20” from the composite coating will accelerate the cure. Begin heating after the coating has gelled - about 15 minutes after application.
APPLICATIONS: • Leaks in tanks, piping and housings • Restore dimensions to keyways • Rebuild stripping threads • Repair cracks in Castings • Refurbish worn bearing areas on shafts • Fill worn areas on seal surfaces
