13CF 16XS 10SS Optimized Performance • Crack Free Design • Casing Friendly • Optimized Tool Wear Resistance • Flexible Rebuild Design

Description: OTW 10SS is an exclusive gas shielded, metal cored alloy wire, specifically designed for use in severe sour (SS) environments and is fully compatible with all drill pipe sour service grades. Drill pipe sour service grades (VM 105 DP SS™, TSS™-105, CYX™-105) and HWDP differ greatly from normal API grades and use a modified form of steel on the pipe body and tool joints. This alloy is formulated to be non-cracking, easy to apply and repair, with low dilution and minimal pre-heat temperatures. The reduced overall hardness is designed to optimize performance in even the most severe sour environments. OTW 10SS is formulated to produce a unique, hard tool-steel microstructure with numerous ultra-fine/ultra-hard phases, dispersed in a tough tempered martensitic matrix. OTW 10SS produces an excellent, non-spatter bead in both appearance & quality, ensuring greater flexibility & increased arc stability between 100 to 400 AMP operating ranges”. Reducing labor costs, OTW 10SS offers a high deposition rate with exceptional, all-position welding ability. The result is a cost-effective solution for multi-purpose hardbanding applications, including Drill Pipe Tool Joints, HWDP Tool Joints & Center Wear Pads.

Overview: • Designed for Sour Service • Casing friendly • Easy to re-apply • Ideal for multiple layer applications • Excellent weldability

Product A – This product is non compatible and has cracking and galling issues Product B – Leading Ti containing repair product Product C – Leading overall in non-cracking Product X – Leading non-cracking, casing friendly product with poor open hole performance After rewelding with OTW 10SS over the 7 welded hardbanding alloys, all the hardbanding overlay is examined visually for cracks and then cut and polished to study the interface between the new and old hardbanding products. There should be a smooth transition with no crack formation and the micrographs of transition zone between different alloys and OTW 10SS are recorded and studied. OTW 10SS has been shown to be not only fully compatible (interchangeable) with itself, but also with the other products in the OTW range, OTW16 XS, OTW12 Ti and OTW13 CF plus the most commonly used hardbanding alloys available in the market today.

Non-Cracking Design (NCD) Most hardbanding products have a high hardness and different thermal expansion coefficient to that of the tool joint material that they are welded to. These mechanical differences plus the thermal stress created during welding results in high tensile stresses in the hardbanding layer, which are usually relieved by controlled cracking of hardbanding. The OTW range are all Non-Cracking Designed alloys. Not only this NCD feature give advantages in reducing casing wear, but when OTW 10SS is used it can save up to 75% of re-application costs compared to when using commercial products that are cracking. The table below demonstrates the reduction in the number of processes required with its consequential significant cost reduction. OTW 10SS is designed to be crack free on tool-joints, this has been done for over 6 years and with continuous success when the welding procedure in the OTW Hardbanding Application Manual is followed.
