Catalyst is a 501(c)3 Non Profit Organization

• We recruit, train, place, and support community members as they serve as mentors on local school campuses.

• We partner with Shasta County Office of Education (SCOE), Dunamis Wellness, and generous Donors like you to provide mentoring on school campuses during lunchtime and in our office after school.

• We serve students in the 4th grade all the way up through the 12th grade.

• We provide mentoring in Shasta County and lower Siskiyou County.

• Last year we served 165 students across 21 School Campuses.

• This year we will serve 26 schools; 24 in Shasta County and 2 in Siskiyou County.

• Our goal is to serve 300 students this year

As you can see, Shasta County is higher than the California average in each of the ACEs categories. Keep in mind this includes Los Angeles and Oakland, far greater cities that we often see as having larger issues than our small town. Our community has experienced a lot of trauma. The sad part is that these numbers are 10 years old AND do not take into account the traumas of dealing with the foster system, any of our local fires, or the world pandemic.

Catalyst Mentoring is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides mentoring in Shasta and Siskiyous County. Our mission is to empower our community to invest in our kids through the power of mentoring. Our community is facing challenges that are shocking when you look at the statistics. We have double the state and national average in ACE’S scores (Adverse Childhood Experiences). Here at Catalyst we believe that mentoring is the best way for the everyday community member to help address the ACEs crisis our community is facing. In every trauma study, you read or workshop you attend the constant thread is relationships. Healthy, stable relationships are the most important factor in whether a child will build resiliency. So as a team we work hard to create the structure for community members that allows them to build healthy, stable, consistent relationships with the kids in our community. We recruit volunteers from our community, then we train and support them as they mentor kids in our community.
