Catamount Club – Donor Spotlight
Van Stayton
Van is a proud 1965 WCU alumnus, a charter member of Kappa Alpha fraternity chapter, and former kicker on the Catamount football team. Van’s son, Alan, is also an alumnus graduating in 2007 and was a punter for the Catamounts during his time as a student-athlete at Western Carolina. Van has been a leadership supporter of WCU’s student-athletes and the Catamount Club for over 40 years. Since graduating from WCU, Van proudly served his country as a Naval Aviator with two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Kitty Hawk flying E-2 Hawkeyes, worked as a pilot for Western Airlines/Delta Airlines for 29 years, was the lead developer for The Summit which was the first student housing project at WCU, served as president of the WCU Alumni Association, and served two stints on the Catamount Club board of directors.

What would your message be to other WCU alumni in encouraging them to be involved in philanthropic support of WCU student-athletes?
