We have joined institutions across 22 conferences and independents in committing to safe, fun, and entertaining sporting experiences on Division II campuses. We have signed the pledge to create and continue family-friendly experiences for everyone.
NCAA Division II presidents and chancellors affirm that athletics events should reflect the values of higher education and the mission of each institution. Division II emphasizes learning and development in a personal setting. As chancellors and presidents, we are concerned about the uncivil behavior exhibited at college athletics contests and thereby pledge to work together to make respectful, familyfriendly events a standard of the Division II experience.

CONWAY, SC – The Catawba defense slowed down Coastal Carolina, but the offense could not cash in on several trips deep inside Chanticleer territory in a 20-3 loss at Brooks Stadium. The Indian defense limited CCU to 308 total yards and a mere 13 on the ground, while causing three turnovers. The unit also kept the hosts off the scoreboard in the final half. The Catawba offense failed to score on three trips into the Coastal red zone and scored its lone points on a Thomas Trexler 38-yard field goal with 3:28 left in the first quarter. The Chanticleers blocked Catawba’s initial punt and took over at the Tribe 14, but were only able to muster a field goal as Grant Clayton cashed in from 26 yards away. After the teams traded punts, Coastal forced a Catawba fumble at midfield and Aramis Hillary tossed a 52-yard strike to Matt Hazel for a 10-0 lead. Coastal Carolina answered the Catawba field goal with another scoring drive as Hillary ran in from three yards out on a third down play and a 17-3 advantage. The game’s final points came with 5:35 to go in the half after the Chanticleers had converted on fourth down after facing a third-and-24 situation. Catawba stopped one CCU drive deep in Indian territory early in the third quarter when CJ Barksdale caused a fumble. TIGREVILLE, SC – North Greenville grabbed a 25-7 win over visiting Catawba at Younts Stadium. The Crusaders totaled 328 total yards with 227 coming on the ground. Teryan Rucker picked up 98 yards to lead the way. Willie Korn threw for 101 yards, but completed just 4-of-17 passes. The NGU defense held Catawba to 216 yards. Jacob Charest threw for 180 yards, completing 25-of-43 passes. Nate Charest had six catches for 59 yards, while Josh Wright made six receptions for 39 yards. The Indians ran for only 36 yards. North Greenville got on the board with just under six minutes left in the first quarter. A 62yard punt return from Isaiah Johnson set up the Crusaders at the Catawba three. Idris Anderson scored from a yard out on second down to give NGU a 7-0 lead at the 5:40 mark. Charest hit passes of 12 and 17 yards to Eric Morman and later a 19-yard strike to Mario Washington to help Catawba into scoring range on the ensuing possession, but Thomas Trexler misfired from 25-yards away late in the quarter. Catawba had another scoring change after the Indians recovered a Crusader fumble at the NGU 34, but the Tribe was unable to advance the ball. A big third-down play late in the half that covered 54 yards from Korn to Sean Wright helped set up the next NGU score. Justin Gravely converted a 35-yard field with 3:09 left which gave North Greenville a 10-0 lead at the break. The Crusaders kept Catawba bottled up in the third quarter with a pair of punts downed inside the five-yard-line. The only points of the frame came on a safety when Catawba had a bad snap into the end zone. A bad punt late in the quarter led to an early fourth quarter score by the Crusaders. Taking over on the Catawba 16, NGU tacked on a 29-yard field goal by Gravely for a 150 lead with 14 minutes left. North Greenville put the game away with ten minutes left on a three-yard run by Anderson with 10:33 remaining. Catawba used a 31-yard pass play from the Charest brothers to set up a fiveyard scoring run by Bobby Morrison with 3:41 to go. The score extended Catawba’s streak of scoring to 196 games, the sixth longest in NCAA Division II. Lakeem Perry had 10 tackles for Catawba. CJ Barksdale was in on three tackles for losses, including a sack. Jason Taylor had two stops for losses, a sack, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. STATISTICS CATAWBA (2-7) N.Greenville (7-2)

BREVARD, SC – Catawba snapped a four-game losing streak with a 17-13 victory over host Brevard at Brevard Stadium. The Indians used a 97-yard, 15-play drive midway through the fourth quarter to rally from a 13-10 deficit. Catawba took over on downs after Brevard had the ball inside the Indian 10 following the second interception on the day by Salonick Amos. Kewone Harris broke up a third-down pass at the three and CJ Barksdale batted down a fourth-down pass to end the threat. The Indians converted three times on third down and once on fourth down in the winning drive that began with 13:17 remaining. Jacob Charest completed third down passes to Eric Morman and Mario Washington to move out to the 42-yard-line. At midfield, Catawba kept the drive alive when Brevard jumped offside on fourth down. Charest would find Washington again on third down for an 11-yard gain to the Tornado 29. A personal foul penalty would move the ball to the 13 and two plays later Josh Wright ran in from nine yards out and Catawba led 17-13 with 6:34 remaining. The defense made one last stand as Brevard moved to the Tribe 32 inside the final minutes. Barksdale and Damein Lee combined on a third-down sack, while Jason Taylor and Jacob Hanes stopped a fourth-down pass short of the sticks. The Indians then run out the clock. Charest threw for 171 yards and one score on 15-of-20 passing. He was intercepted twice. Wright led the ground game with 58 yards on 20 carries with the one score. Morman had five catches for 56 yards and Nate Charest made five grabs for 54 yards. Aaron Reese threw for 101 yards and ran for another 75 to lead Brevard. He completed 7-of-13 passes with a touchdown and an interception and also scored on the ground. Eric Watts caught three passes for 47 yards and a score, while Rodney Daniels added 39 yards rushing. Catawba took an early lead, capping an opening 14-play, 59-yard drive with a 24-yard field goal from Thomas Trexler. The Indians drove inside the Brevard five late in the first quarter, but Charest was intercepted in the end zone on third down by Amos on the first play of the second quarter. Brevard in turn marched in the Catawba red zone before turning it over on downs at the Tribe 16. Catawba would use that momentum to strike for a 10-0 lead. Charest hit two big pass plays, 27 yards to his brother Nate then a 21-yarder to Bobby Morrison to the Tornado 24. Three plays later Charest tossed a 10-yard strike to Morman for the 10-0 edge. The Tornados were able to put a scoring drive together in the final two minutes of the half. Andre Overholt had an 18-yard run to the Catawba 10-yard-line and Reese followed with a 10-yard pass to Watts to trim the deficit to 10-7 with only 42 seconds left in the half. Brevard took the lead with the only points of the third quarter, coming on a one-yard run from Reese. The point after was missed. STATISTICS CATAWBA (3-7) Brevard (3-7)

SALISBURY, NC – Lenoir-Rhyne claimed a share of the South Atlantic Conference Championship as the Bears rolled to a 38-6 win over host Catawba at Shuford Stadium and Kirkland Field. The Bears went on top late in the first quarter as quarterback Major Herron capped a six-play, 70-yard drive with a oneyard run. Herron had run of 53 yards on the second play of the drive to set the Bears up on the Catawba 14. Lenoir-Rhyne added another short score, coming from four yards out by Isaiah Whitaker, to jump out to a 14-0 edge with 12:15 left in the half. Catawba capitalized on a fumbled snap on a punt to score its only points. The Indians took over the Bear 10 and quarterback Jacob Charest was able to sneak in on fourth down from the one to cut the score to 14-6. The Bears were able to add one more score before the break. Following a 35-yard punt return by Michael Green to the Catawba 28, Herron would run in from five yards out with just 1:11 left in the quarter to give Lenoir-Rhyne a 21-6 lead at the break. Lenoir-Rhyne held Catawba to just 58 yards in the first half and took command of the game when Jamont Jones took the second half kickoff 93 yards to put the Bears up 28-6. Offensively, Catawba could not mount a comeback and Lenoir-Rhyne added a field goal by Colin Corpe and a one-yard run from Jasper Thomas in the fourth quarter for the final margin. Herron ran for a game-high 182 yards and added one completion for 12 yards. Whitaker added 87 yards and Corron Boston 52 yards. The Bears finished with 348 yards rushing and outgained Catawba 375 to 130 in total yards. Senior Lakeem Perry made 14 stops for Catawba, finishing the season with 108 tackles.
