Non_Fictional Cities (NFC), the global 2-week workshop was organized by Daniela Atencio and Claudio Rossi from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia in July 2020 during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic.
Through their kind invitation Catedra MASS partook as part of a summer design studio at UDEM, which was open to any student from 4th semester on.
The first submission of the workshop was not for the students, but for the tutors and professors, it asked for a “trigger”, a thesis statement through which the students work would be aligned with.
A trigger is a linear, single directional actionable object. There is only one way a trigger can be pulled - Since this “trigger” was to be submitted before even having had the opportunity to meet my students (electronically over zoom) and seeking not to limit in any way the student´s work, I decided instead of a trigger, to submit a “trampoline”, one which was composted of 15 different topics from which students not only could choose, but h
