The following thesis is the result of a workshop organised by Emergency Architecture and Human Rights (EAHR) held in L’Aquila. The project area, the barony of Carapelle Calvisio, is part of the so-called inland areas of Italy and consists of four small villages in Abruzzo. The general idea is to revitalise these ghost towns through the creation of a network that will enable greater collaboration between the four villages. The aim is to strengthen the existing community and to create interest in new people from outside. The project based on the themes of reuse and sustainability, focusing on urban and landscape regeneration of the site, which is unique in terms of its natural and architectural heritage.

Seflix is born from the idea of developing a project starting from what already exists, and what will have the greatest influence on our future way of life. Like the famous streaming platform Netflix, Seaflix creates sharing spaces and as a series it is composed of several episodes that are interconnected and create a unique project. The plot that all these episodes have in common speaks of the land-water relationship; and how the populations of the 2100s will have to become resilient to climate change. The strength of Seaflix stems from the desire to put users first, creating a new community that can get benefit from sea level rise, a community that can adapt to change.

Ponticelli is a district of Naples where the project is developed. New residential complexes, recovery, retrofitting of damaged buildings co-exist and define the nature of the district. The interaction between the urban morphologies and the privatepublic spaces stress the social dynamics leading to lack of infrastructures and urban fragmentation. The project Cultural Contamination aim is to rectify the problem of loss of identity for the periphery mainly revolving around the reuse of ‘700 Villa Tropeana which is abandoned and in a state of decay. The aim is also to redesign urban space in a way that returns it to the citizenry instead of to cars, recompacting the urban fabric.

Villa Tropeana

Intensive urban design workshop lasting one week, with the objective of redeveloping an area outside the city of Piacenza. the project wanted to unite the historical center to this forgotten part, but that has a great historical value for the presence of ancient walls. Inside this new urban park we wanted to create wooden modules that could be combined according to the needs of different users. It was also important to find a use for the area that in the past was occupied by a ditch and is now abandoned, the creation of a sensory garden and a bike path, which now does not exist, would give new life to these spaces.
