Global Warming: The Environment is now alarming!

T

ry to observe and feel your surroundings, is it still the same as before? Have you notice the sudden change of the temperature of the atmosphere each day? Try to ask your grandparents with this “Have you experienced this hotness way back before you’re still at my age? I’m so sure they’ll say “We’ve experienced hotness before but honestly speaking, that was not as hot as it is nowadays”. With these statements you’ll probably ask yourself “if that’s the case, then what is happening today? What is the current condition of this world we are living today? Global warming, it is what we are going through these days, it is the recent increase in the worlds temperature that is believed to be caused by the increases of certain gases such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Why I am telling this to you? It’s simply because all of us here are responsible to give a concern and actions about this growing problem not just only in our country but in the whole world. We’re not here just to sit and wait for a miracle to happen; nobody will take an action except us. We are the one who used to receive blessings from our environment, from our nature but we used to abused the mercy that we are getting, and look at us now, look at the distraction that we did in our environment, see? That’s how irresponsible we are! There are so many things we did each day, and for you to know, we are causing damage to our environment. Global warming occurs when greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane trap heat inside the earth’s atmosphere. The burning of fossil fuels like petroleum and deforestation both contribute to the problem. This happening has already started to affect the earth in several ways. An arctic glacier has begun to melt, which is threatening indigenous life such a polar bears. Melting glaciers also cause sea level to rise. These could become a problem for low land and areas like the ones in the South Sea Islands. There are ways we can combat the effects of global warming. The clean Air Act of 1990 is a law that attempts to protect and improve the earth’s air and atmosphere. Some of the components of this law include: limiting harmful vehicle emissions and phasing out the use of chemicals that can damage the ozone layer. On a more personal level, we can work to prevent global warming by planting trees and by car-pooling. Climate change is seen as a serious threat that is receiving serious attention world-wide. My speech isn’t written to persuade or motivate you to do anything about the effects of global warming, I am just informing you, only mean to give facts. Hopefully, this may helped informing you of what casues it and the effects that it has now on earth.

STOP THE KILLING by: Rose S. Bonono

“T

Thou shall not kill.” his is one of the Ten Commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ found in the bible verse, Exodus 20:30. To kill is a sin, it is unrighteous and immoral but as of now it seems like the killing of lives of others are just a big joke only. Ever since the declaration of

war on drugs happened. Every corner of our country became bloody due to the rapid growth of killed people which is illicit. All these acts are unacceptable in the eyes of the law and in the Lord God above. Rodrigo Duterte took office as president of the Philippines 0n June 30, 2016. Duterte campaigned on an explicit

Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign by: Jenemea C. Aborro

I put PDEA in charge to satisfy drug war critics.” President Rody Duterte uttered in his speech that he made the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) lead agency to take charge of all anti-illegal drugs opera-

tions to satisfy the critics of his all-out drug war, October 12, 2017. Survey says our country is slowly weakening the illegal drug transactions in our country. Many supported the campaign of our President.

platform to “Kill all of you who will make the lives of Filipino mesirable.” Yet, the great aim is to lessen the problem arises with an unkind result, instead of saving lives it then turned out with an opposite outcome. Many lives were threatened, even the innocent ones were killed. Through it is not what they expected to happen, still it is the effect of implementation. In an article of Michael Bueza, he conducted research about the toll of killed persons with drug related issues. As of April 23, 2017 there have been over 7,000 deaths, both from

legitimate police operations and vigilante-style or unexplained killings. Based on PNP datas, there were 7, 080 total number of people killed in this war on drugs implementation since July 1, 2016 there were 2,555 suspected drug personalities killed in police operations, as of January 31, 2017 the numbers increased to 3, 603 victims in cases where investigations has concluded in the meantime. Horrible indeed. this happenings is a traumatic one. With those datas provided

above, ofcourse the leaders would be glad with the progress of the operation but how about the family of the killed person? For sure they will suffer a lot they wont be able to see thier love ones anymore. War on drugs therefor is not the right solution of real problem, instead even make the crime worst. “Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. and if you cant help them at least do not hurt them. this was according to Dalai Lama.

SWS survey says 9 out of 10 agree to the administrations about the campaign. But why people blaming the president Duterte if there are people died because of extrajudicial killing. It seems that hatred revealed on them. They don’t even care or give importance that this one only protects them. Yes, we can say there are several innocent people being involved through it, but we should not blame President Rody Duterte if some-

thing goes wrong in the campaign under the watch of the PDEA , our president already addressed the problem. People say, they salute to president Duterte because from the very beginning he was able to decrease the number of drug users, dealers and the suppliers. This is also weakens the drug lords to produce illegal drugs in our country. But this recent pronouncement of our president about the pull out of the PNP in the illegal drug campaign

will surely be good news to the syndicate. Because of the drug war critics, our Leader is granting their voices to stop the operation. It is uncertain for us filipinos that we are always safe even today that we know our president is trying to impose the safest country like in Davao City as one of the safest city in the Philippines. Who’s to be blame if the illegal drugs transaction will grow again?

This is about Proper Waste Disposal. This bothers me a lot, I know that in our school, there was already full implemetation of the proper waste disposal. The teachers are providing trash box in each classroom and in our classroom the trash box are labeled to biodegradable, nonbiodegradable and recyclable. But why is it every end of the day our trash box is full of garbage but it is all mixed. I am very much concern about this because in our classroom Im the one who segragated the garbage into its proper place. but I think this is not good. Everyone should be responsible for disposing thier garbage. Everyone should know the proper waste disposal. Thank you. Respectfully yours,

UT

niversal echnique

by: Ninolyn S. Nietes t was recess time that I scrolled down my Facebook timeline. What caught my attention was the post of Brightside FB page featuring “12 Secrets for Memorizing Things Easily”. As I recall, the admin recommends a process of remembering thing easily. Then I took of screenshots into it. Learning things everyday of our lives is like drowning in the water. How will you remember everything you see or hear? It’s very hard. I do not have superpower to retain everything in my minds. Maybe this tips I got will help. As a student we have a lot ofthings to memorize about. The lessons we learned will retained without using our memory, but I tend to forget always. On the article, it stated that technique is a universal formula made by Hermann Ebbinghaus, a German psychologist. Why we forget Your brain protects us from overloading with useless information. That’s why all new information is stored in the short-term memory, not in the long-term memory. If

I

you don’t repeat it or use it, you forget it very quickly. The Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve shows that just

one hour after learning we forget more than half of the learned information. One week later we remember only 20%. How to remember everything In order to keep the information in your head for a longer time, you need to try to put it into your long-term memory. Forced memorization is not very effective in thiscase because your brain can’t make sense of the informa-

tion quickly and form strong associations. If you want to remember things for a long time, you need to extend the memorization period. It should be as long as a few days or even weeks .

Here are the 12 more memorizing tips

o Try to understand what you learn. Things that you understand are memorized 9 times faster. o Learn the most necessary information. You need to set your priorities correctly. o Take this into consideration: things that are at the beginning and at the end are memorized the best (serial position effect). o Switch your attention from one topic to another. Remember that similar memories get mixed (interference theory) and become a “mess.“ o Learn opposite things. For example, if you are learning a foreign language, memorize day and night. Opposites are easier to memorize. o Build your own ”mind palace.“ The idea is to associate certain things with a certain place. For example, if you are in your room, try to connect a thing you are learning to something in your room. Repeat it a few times. After that, try to recall what the room looks like in your memory, and repeat the things you learned this way. o Use “nail words.” The point of the technique is to nail one learned thing to another. So when you think of the nail, you automatically recall the other thing. o Associate new words with those you already know. If you are learning a language, you can memorize something new based on what you know. o Make up stories. If you need to memorize a lot of information in some particular order, try to put the pieces into a story. It’s important that the pieces are connected to each other with some kind of plot. o Use a tape recorder. Record the information you are learning, and listen to the recording a few times. This method works best for people who memorize audio information better. Visualize. Use body language when learning. This will help you trigger your muscle memory. o Choose only the best materials. Don’t use outdated books and methods of learning. Things might have changed a lot since the books were written. Don’t waste your time on something that may turn out to be wrong. https://forum.facmedicine.com/threads/12-secrets-for-memoriz-

his statement holds true for everyone including children. Every parent wishes all the best for their child. Giving their best to provide every single thing that their kids need and want in life. But did you know that there are some foods that we often miss as we think that they are perfectly okay for kids. There are certain foods that are not only harmful for a child’s devel-

opment but also make them slow learners. Packed foods and process foods such as packed chips, burger, pizza, and noodles has a monosodium glutants (MSG) use as a flavour enhancer that causes mood and behaviour changes, including headache and hyperactivity effects on children. Foods having artificial colouring are also bad for kids, due to the detrimental effects that

these chemicals have. This causes significant behavioural changes,

anxiety, hyperactivity and headache. High intake of this adulterated foods also affects the child’s growth and over all development. Caffeinated drinks are also harmful. According to the article “Nutrition Matter” from Toronto’s

Public health organization, kid’s bodies are more sensitive to the effects of caffeine, causing jumpiness, nervousness; sleep loss, hyperactivity, headache and stomach ache on kids. And lastly sweet foods, sugar can cause

POLE DANCING: New Sport Olympic? P ole dancing has been recognized as an international sporting body according to the International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF). According to BBC News October 18, Global Association of International Sports Federation (GAISF) gave “observer status” which means- it is provisionally recognised as a sport. Observer status is designed as a first step towards full GAISF membership. Observers are assisted in areas such as becoming compliant with World Anti-Doping Agency rules and receiving the required recognition from National Olympic Committees. "I feel like we have achieved the impossible, everyone told us that we would not be able to get pole dancing recognised as a sport." Katie Coates, a 41-year-old from Hertfordshire, who founded the IPSF told in the

The IPSF stresses that pole dancing is about “athleticism and technical merit”, in line with “other Olympic standard sports such as gymnastics,

diving and ice skating”. So even though it may be closely associated with strip clubs, a performance does not have to contain an erotic element. However, there is a big debate within pole dancing about how much it should be

Pole’s authorities argue that it is not only a sport, but that it

is a sport appropriate for all ages and audiences. The IPSF runs competitions for ages from 10 to 65. But does a broad, global public agree? Olympic authorities may decide it would be more controversial than it is worth. Before we get to that point though, there are other considerations. A sport can only become eligible for Olympic consideration if it meets three key criteria. 1. It must be signed up to the World Anti-Doping Agency, which pole is 2. It must be a full member of the GAISF, which pole is now working towards 3. And it must have 50 national federations acoording to BBC News ,At the moment, pole dancing has around 20. The GAISF recognition lends weight to IPSF’s

application for membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) - while pole dancing’s equivalent body in the UK, the British Federation for Pole Dancing, can now apply for national sports recognition through the Department for Digital, Culture and Sport. And a bit of perspective can be gained by looking at what other bodies were given observer status by GAISF - among them the World Armwrestling Federation, the World Dodgeball Association, the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting and the International Table Soccer Federation. So there is still a long, long way to go.
