Boom! The gun was fired and everyone blasted away The race began, and a grin grew upon my face Moving as fast as my legs could go, I was having a great time The fresh air and hot sun beating down, I somehow loved this feeling
My legs aching, and feet burning “Why did I sign up for this? I asked myself The sweat smelling track, and the sun like a new yellow highlighter This was horrible and I definitely hated it
The final 100 to go, and I was ready to get the race over with The warmish sun and cool air spread around the field The finish mark was ahead and I was happy to be done 2
You Don’t Have Forever Allusion

His gleaming smile and positive posture was something new for this business man Just by watching him gallantly walk down the street, it was noticeable that he was in a fantastic mood “I was asked to step up as boss in the office today” “That’s great, are you going to take it?” “I don’t know, I am really enjoying my job now, he told me to think about it, and I will” “Well, congratulations!” “It has been a week and you don’t know if you are going to take it yet, you’re not Hamlet, you could have made the decision a week ago. Just take if you want it” “I know, I know, I think I need…” “If you think you need, then you don’t need whatever it was. Do you want the job or not, it’s simple, yes or no”

Mentally going through all my homework, I thought tonight would be full of work Tons of assignments to do, and tests to study for This night would surely not go by fast, I knew it was gonna feel like forever right from the start Subject after subject, this never ending work A new assignment due, after each one is complete
How will this ever be done before tonight? Studying for a test, practicing for a quiz Everything is due so soon It is now coming to end of my homework I hate to say that I won’t miss it one bit 6
Caught in a Haze Assonance

Aspiration took me over, baffled at first, inspired in the second Awestruck and amazed at this glory I was astonished in these questions only seeking answers The abolition of any thought other than this wonder appeared so quickly This item stalled every thought I could ever think And paused every motion in my presence Adhering to all my senses this amazement Alast my haze went away and I was lost in the past thought of wonder

Throbbing Bells Onomatopoeia
9
Onomatopeia The deep acoustic bell throbbed Each bell longed a second more than before Ding, Ding, Ding the first bell as slow as the student in the morning Bing, Bing, Bing moments later a richer bell came Bong, bong, bong, the sound lingered around longer than the rest Classes were to begin Bing! Still stuck through my ears, it remained in my head The now faint, yet jubilant sound buzzed between my ears Ding! Ding! Ding! A sequence of staccato sounds, Bing! Bing! Bing! The sound lit up the room Hallways crowded with hungry students‌ Ding! Ding! Ding! The bell rang again nonetheless everyone was already at the cafeteria Stomp! Slam! The children rushed the cafeteria like they had never seen food before The kids crazed at the lunch line, anxious for their food A short Beep! Came from the monitor Announcing our after school activities Soon after a feather light sound rang, Ding! Tap! Tap! Tap, the keyboard sounds faded Rumble! The papers and books stuffed int0 o bags

Only on the Inside Large, cursive letters centered on a envelope read “Ms. Leider The address seemed unrecognizable to me, but I was intrigued to open it The quiet crinkling of the opening envelope muffled through each ear I carefully removed the gilded sticker taping it shut, trying not to destroy the delicate piece A crisp, wrinkleless paper presented itself, and a bland, new paper smell filled the nook along with the chemicals in the fresh ink The paper had sharp, clean cut corners, that I was scared to fray
11
My mouth soon mirrored the paper, a dry and bland taste overcome my gums Finally I began to read the paper, my once cold and dry hands became clammy A nervous rush quickly spiked through my body My eyes grew bigger after each word I couldn’t take it anymore and urgently skipped to the signed name and at that moment the letter I dearly cared for by the pleasant looks, glided through the gaps in my fingers, clashing on the floor

Constant Change Simile/Metaphor
13
Running like the wind, I rushed to bus I was soon to be late, and the Tropical Park bus would sure enough leave me at school Finally I came to an abrupt halt at the bus doors, like heavy winds stopping so suddenly I walked clumsily through the narrow aisle with a life-sized instrument in my hand I was a detective looking for a seat next to my friend This bus ride was long, with clashing bumps and continuous shrieks from the back of the bus It seemed like animals gone wild, and finally we arrived to the track Everyone once so happy and energized, was now gloomy and eerie and our moods fell so sharp, like an elevator shaft falling In my long distance runner group, and we knew we were going to run a lot, our championships were in three days, our coach had us working like professionals today The practice got longer and longer like our voices from being so out of breath, everyone was ready to go only after three quarters of the practice Finally practice was over and the salty sweat dripped like rain off our faces We boarded the bus once again and headed for the prep

The Greater times... Blasting music, blinding lights, all brought me ecstatic spirits on the dance floor By my side were my friends, all having the time of our lives, dancing and singing to each song Rushing to the photo booth to take tons of silly pictures, Click! A new picture would be taken, this night is one I definitely adore Spending time with my friends and hanging out with new ones everyone was getting along Back on the dance floor singing songs louder and louder Nothing about tonight was a downer
15
And the Worst of Times Blasting music, blinding lights, all in which I tried to avoid By my side stood my friends talking loudly to overpower the music Kept in the corner, wanting to take a picture, but then everyone would see, I knew I wasn’t just paranoid Spending time with my friends we kept away from the center of the party, I found this to be more therapeutic Seeing everyone’s smiles gleam while dancing, I almost wished that could be me But the night finally came to an end and I was a last free
16
Widespread of Devastation Alliteration
17
Leading us alone was our will to survive We dreaded miles and miles of dreary nothingness Devastation lived in every district of my country No one doubted our dire situation would end Our chances of living a delightful life were slim The amount of hope we had only decreased Every drop of water devoured in seconds Every bit of food would disappear in minutes Devastations That we live, And survive

Nowhere Go To Personification

The dim lights barely stretched through the museum The portrait’s eyes coldly stared at me
The paintings were screaming in resentment to living in th frames They cried and shouted at me, As if I were to blame for their everlasting misery The paintings sat paralyzed in the dull museum, Once filled with light in the day
Another shriek came from the opposite side of the museum I was caught in the middle of a screamfest There was no way to enter, and no where to leave Loud cries from painting to portrait from portrait to drawing Every step I took a new cry rang through my ear The museum was spinning, a spinning catastrophe That I was stuck in, all alone 20
Nature Awakened Rhyme
21
The crisp morning air mixed with grassy greens, created the early dew Now the sky was filled with blue and the clouds looked fluffy and new Pastels filled the flower beds covering every field The dew covered grass and the grass stems reveal... The first sight of spring, with far more to come, this warm yet cool weather was just the beginning The flash of gentle morning breeze started spinning The sun began brightening with each minute, why it was awakening from its long rest For this lovely new weather would simply not stress Nature’s smell overcame my nose, inhale and exhale, each breath felt unique This new nature was special with nothing to tweak Finally the last stage of this gallant morning, a bird’s chirp was heard And I knew this first spring morning, in my memory would not be blurred

Once a Broken Love Sonnet
23
My heart it beats for my one love alone My heart a drum it sounds across the land This day I wait until my love’s my own Despite my flaws she will still take my hand I express what I think through my music So come with me and sing my joyful song But now, this day our endless love is sick Yet one day our love will become so strong My music is all yours my love my dear Together we shall turn the wrong to the right She has made my visions of love so clear Us as a whole we can brighten the night So please just kiss me now and take me back The fact that your love's gone makes my heart crack 24
