The Pyramids of Margate is a solo theatre piece following the course of one evening in the life of Doctor Who fanatic, local council worker and incurable dreamer David Kennedy. As well as his beloved Doctor Who, David has two obsessions – the beautiful Polish girl from the accounts department, and SETI (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). Fresh from humiliating himself in front of most of Thanet District Council in the local pub, David takes refuge in his laptop link-up to SETI. Against all the odds - Something is happening! Is some unknown force attempting to communicate with David through a potent combination of dream, nostalgia and physical sensation (he’s experience strange spasms in his left arm)? Or … not? Will he get the girl? Will his name live in history? Has he made the greatest discovery of all time? THE PYRAMIDS OF MARGATE is a hymn to all lost and dreaming humanity, to everyone who has ever looked into a star-spattered sky and wondered what or who is out there, to all those who have ever put on an impossibly long multi-coloured scarf and dug into a bag of jelly babies. The show is initially very funny, but as the human face behind the geek façade emerges also deeply touching.
