Foundation Funds over $1.5 Million in 2014

The Kenmore Mercy Foundation hosts its Third Annual Donor reception on February 12.
This is a special opportunity for the Foundation staff and Walt Ludwig, chief operating officer, to spend time with and thank associates who pledged or donated $150, or more to the 2015 Annual Fund Drive
Associate support is crucial to the Annual Fund; it allows the Foundation to fund Department Mini Grants, Staff Education Grants and Capital Equipment grants for Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
Invitations will be sent out at the end of January.

Kenmore Mercy Foundation raises funds to provide financial support for key projects at Kenmore Mercy Hospital by funding Staff Education, Mini Grants and Hospital Equipment Grants.
In 2014, the Foundation Board of Trustees approved $1,462,000 in
funding in addition to the annual commitment to fund $110,000 in department mini grants, staff education and hospital grants. Below is a list of equipment that was funded by the Foundation, and put in place at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in 2014:

The Foundation is able to support these programs in a large part due to the donations received from our associates along with our physicians, former patients, friends of Kenmore Mercy Hospital and area businesses. The Associate Annual Fund Drive raised $42,000 with over 180 associates pledging their gift through payroll deduction, and 26 associates making a one-time contribution.
This includes associates from Kenmore Mercy, Sisters/St. Joseph Campus, McAuley Residence along with Catholic Health Corporate. If you haven’t done so yet, please consider investing in the future care of our patients at Kenmore Mercy Hospital by contributing to the Kenmore Mercy Foundation Annual Fund.

Tribute To Angels
Thank You To Our Tribute To Angels Donors A Tribute to Angels, hosted by Kenmore Mercy Foundation, was held on November 21, 2014 at the Buffalo/ Niagara Marriott despite the November snow storm. Events chairs, Lee Ann Vogt and James Rykowski are very happy to announce that this year’s event raised $124,000 for Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
Over 350 guests enjoyed the evening which included fine cuisine, raffles, silent auctions and recognition of this year’s honorees.
This year’s “Fund and Item,” a unique component of the event, raised $16,000 to purchase patient communication boards to be installed in patient rooms. Guests at the event were able to bid on the “Fund an Item” and all proceeds raised will be used to purchase the patient communication boards for the hospital.
The Foundation was very proud to present awards to this year’s honorees. The Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award honorees were Dr. Joseph P. and Mrs. Diane Leberer and Dr. Joseph A. and Mrs. Patricia Ralabate.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Nancy R. Dobson treasurer and trustee of Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board.
These awards were created to honor those who give their support to the Foundation, the hopsital and our community every day. Spotlight on Joseph P. Picone Joseph P. Picone joined the Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board in 2013 and currently serves on the Golf & Wine Event committee.
Joe has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. He is president of Bison Electrical Services, a commercial electrical construction company that he started in 1995. Today, Bison Electrical Services is a growing, progressive company, focused on long term relationships with its clients.
Bison Electrical currently has 18 to 20 field and office staff employees.

Joe attended Lafayette High School in Buffalo and Erie Community College for electrical technology.
He also attended the University of Buffalo’s School of Management and is a graduate of the University of Buffalo’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership program, where he served on the alumni board as education chair for four years.
While on the board, Joe collaborated to create the “Entrepalooza” Education Forum, an annual gathering where hundreds of Buffalo area entrepreneurs and business leaders get together for learning, networking, ideas and inspiration. The first forum was held in Holiday Valley with Michael Gerber (author of The E Myth) as the guest speaker.
Born and raised in Buffalo’s Elmwood District community, Joe currently resides in East Amherst with his wife Kelly, and two children, Emma and Joseph.
