Catholic Mission Formation Services… … facilitates opportunities to encounter God in the world through an immersive, interactive pedagogy of dialogue, encounter and experience which engages the whole person. … transforms hearts and minds to live the ‘Joy of the Gospel’ and lead mission. … programs and resources have local and global perspective and include immersions, school workshops, advocacy, professional development and learning, and adult formation.

Who are we? Catholic Mission is the international mission agency of the Catholic Church in Australia. Locally and globally, we answer the call to love God and to love our neighbour, and work to establish the Reign of God. Our formation programs provide ongoing support and development to those who are working in parishes and diocesan agencies, health, aged care, education and social services of the Australian Catholic Church. We partner with local and national church organisations, so that all women and men, including those working in leadership within our church, are empowered to give joy-filled witness to Christ’s mission and the Kingdom of God. Through our formation and educational programs, participants are invited to reflect upon their own organisational systems and structures and how they embody the ‘Joy of the Gospel’. We challenge the personal and organisational frameworks of beliefs, values, behaviours and actions through which we all live and lead mission and we enable participants to ‘Go forth boldly!’ (EG261) to continue building the Kingdom of God.

I have come so that all may have life and have it to the full. John 10:10

good conversation, interesting thoughts and opened discussion on what’s happening in our parishes.

At the 2014 Catholic Healthcare Conference, the Catholic Mission Formation Team introduced a large gathering of our pastoral care workers to the “Joy of the Gospel” and the new spirit coming from the person and words of Pope Francis.

We left that day renewed and uplifted.

It was as if nourishing seeds had been planted in our hearts, revitalising our hope and reimagining our love in the work of aged care and health. I thoroughly recommend the formation day. You will be pleasantly surprised by both the process and the content as a means to come aside and rediscover the jewel of the Gospel. The power of story—there is nothing like it. I listened and heard so much and like so many aspects and things in my life, hope I can go ahead to live the ‘Joy of the Gospel’.

Today’s session made me laugh and cry. To see Pope Francis with people was enlightening; a good session, uplifting and stimulating. A good reminder of the challenges we face.

It has inspired me to do something really practical. Thank you Catholic Mission for your unique and engaging approach. Our Port Lincoln experience provided opportunity for all present to

in light of the ‘Francis Effect’. Your comprehensive and systematic presentation was valued by all gathered at our Diocesan Leaders Conference – accessible, extremely relevant and lots of fun. Brenda Keenan Director of Catholic Education, Diocese of Port Pirie, South Australia
