Factria Trail Connection City of Bellevue Wayfinding Plan
Project Staff and Planning City of Bellevue Transportation Department Project Manger: Supervisor:
Catherine Silva Graduate Transportation Planning Intern Kevin McDonald Senior Project Manger
This wayfinding project was planned in concert with a much larger city-wide bicycle wayfinding project. Darek Jarzynski, a Senior Transportation Engineer with the City, was the project manager for the city-wide project. the two project managers worked together at the end of the design phase to finalize the signage schedule. Jarzynski managed the bidding and construction processes. Silva and Jarzynski both reviewed the punch list of the sign assemblies before fabrication and on-site after installation. Programing and design development for the Factoria Trail wayfinding project began in Spring 2012, with bidding in the Autumn 2012 and Construction in March of 2013.

Background and Wayfinding Locations Project Background
Factoria Trail Connection Wayfinding Plan Update 2013 Map of Project Extents
In 2011, the City of Bellevue Transportation Department planned and constructed an off-street bicycle trail in the City’s Factoria neighborhood. Titled the Factoria Trail, this project aimed to provide a safer alternative than riding along Factoria Boulevard SE. A strong concern for bicyclist safety at the intersection of Factoria Boulevard and an off-ramp from I-90 South was reported by several city residents. The North end of the trail was placed here, accommodating a more comfortable and secure connection for North- and Southbound nonmotorized travelers. The Factoria Trail project was funded through federal and state grants, totaling $959,000. Of that total, $10,000 of the grant funding dedicated to education was used to upgrade and enhance wayfinding installed during implementation. This document presents the new signage installed along the trail as well as connections to the South and Southwest of the trail.
Wayfinding Installation Locations In total, this wayfinding project implemented fifteen signs assemblies. Signage was installed at four locations in and around the Factoria neighborhood: A. Factoria Boulevard SE, West of SE 36th Avenue B. 124th Avenue SE, South of SE 38th Avenue C. 124th Avenue SE, at Coal Creek Parkway SE D. Coal Creek Parkway SE, South Of 120th Avenue SE The sign assemblies installed at all four locations are each described in the remaining pages of this document.
