beef connection 11th Annual Bull Sale March 13, 2021 A note from Great Lakes Beef Connection... All of us at Great Lake Beef Connection would like to thank our customers for there dedication and commitment to our program through the years, for that we are truly grateful. As you will see we have increased our bull numbers again this year to meet our customer’s growing needs. 2020 has sure been a year to remember or maybe forget… We sure have been blessed to be able to continue to do what we love, day in and day out, raising good cattle with family and friends. 2020 has been one of the best years in Michigan to raise cattle in 20 years, our weather has been awesome. We had a great spring, summer rains were just right and then the fall was dry and warmer than normal, we can’t always say that. The Members of Great Lake Beef Connection have made a commitment in the future by enrolling our herds in the Calf Crop Genomics program through the ASA in 2020. This means we have submitted DNA on every calf born on our farms and we will continue to do so. Our cow herds have been genomic enhanced, parent verified and have been mated using cutting edge RightMate technology. We have also partnered with Marty Ropp, Allied Genetic Resource, All Beef and Allied Feeding Partners, giving us new tools including the science of RightMate so that we can focus on concentrating the good genes and limiting the bad ones. This will absolutely make our cattle better more quickly and improve uniformity so that we can pass on that important genetic value to our genetics customers. Everyone in this business has been hoping that genomics would give us the tools to find the genes that make a difference in beef production. RightMate is making that happen and that’s why we are among the first programs in this country to use it. We certainly hope that you can join us on March 13th for our sale and or join us at our open house on March 6th at our sale facility in Clare, MI.
