T-HEART RANCH

200 True High Altitude SimAngus and Simmental Bulls

Time never seems to slow down and it is hard to believe bull sale time is just around the corner. We hope 2023 is treating you and your family well, and hope to see you and visit more the last Saturday in March.

We are excited to offer over 175 herdsire candidates for your appraisal this year. This phrase is used often but we are sincere when we say this is our deepest offering of bulls, and buyers can find quality from cover to cover in this year’s catalog. Our program is built to deliver genetics that will improve your herd and work at altitude, and every year we face less challenge from PAP within our own operation. Likewise, our genetics are built to add value to every facet of your operation while leaving you replacement females who will keep you in business for years to come. The 2023 bull sale will feature herdsires who mirror our breeding objectives and ultimately add value to your operation.

The continued availability of PAP tested bulls entering the market place increases every year. We feel the burdens associated with PAP every day at our ranch. We have found the key to limit the impacts of PAP is to source genetics who are born, bred and developed at altitude. Our lowest elevation is 8,000 feet and our bulls come from females who have been born, raised and PAP tested at this elevation. If you are facing the challenges of PAP, give our program a strong look, we do not just sell PAP tested bulls - we are producers who actually live at elevation and face the same challenges every day.

Feel free to stop by and view the bulls at the ranch any time prior to the sale. We appreciate the confidence our past customers have placed in our program, and we look forward to meeting new ones. If we can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to give us a call.

Sincerely,

True High Altitude Cattle

YOUR #1 SOURCE FOR PAP TESTED GENETICS

Leaders in Altitude Genetics - The Temple family proves to be a leader in the beef business in terms of the collection of PAP data and supplying altitude-adapted genetics to the high country. Ultimately, their vast array of data and multiple generations of PAP scores that stand behind every bull in the offering can be rivaled by few in the business.

As PAP tested bulls continue to grow in quantity on the market, past customers will attest the T-Heart bulls are just tougher when it comes to withstanding high-altitude conditions. Every bull in the sale has been through two PAP tests and every female on the ranch has a PAP tested dam and her own PAP score, as well. Likewise, the bulls in the offering are not shipped to elevation to be tested. They are bred, born and developed at 8,000 feet elevation. If you are a cattleman who has struggled with Brisket Disease or elevation, come test a T-Heart bull. The difference is real!

HIGH ALTITUDE BULLS FOR HIGH ALTITUDE CATTLEMEN

Commitment to customer success means understanding, then meeting their needs. At T-Heart Ranch that commitment is centered squarely on providing the altitude adapted, PAP tested genetics that are an absolute necessity to their core customer base. After nearly 20 years and 18,000+ head tested, few if any, have more experience producing and improving PAP tested seedstock. They have a solid grip on what it takes to provide a product that will thrive at altitude and provide advanced value to everyone who chooses their seedstock each year. With the very lowest elevation on the ranch at 8,000 feet, the T-Heart herd is constantly selected for improved PAP resistance and that means their customers can expect more risk abatement too.

Bovine Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, better known simply as “Brisket Disease” is a significant issue to beef producers, particularly in mountain states and at significant altitudes. This is especially true for those that summer graze from 6,000 to in excess of 9,000 feet. Depending on the year, calf losses can be in excess of 20% at higher levels and can be truly crippling to any operation. Though there are environmental challenges that can exacerbate these losses, genetic predisposition and development acclamation are the factors with the most potential to help mitigate the challenges and increase profitability. Selection over generations of acclimated and true high altitude, PAP tested seedstock is what you will find with the T-Heart herd and this is crucial to their customers.

Today, there are an increasing number of seedstock sources promoting and offering PAP tested bulls. Some of this is due to the increasing need for these genetics and some is driven by a desire to address feedlot heart-related deaths that are on the rise and may include some of the same risk factors that affect PAP scores. For the most confidence in PAP resistant genetics however, your best choice is to look for those born and raised, and then PAP tested, at more extreme altitude like those at the T Heart Ranch. Just like a cardiologist uses a stress test to help determine your true risk of heart disease, PAP tests conducted at a high stress level above 7,500 feet simply have much greater reliability than tests conducted at 5,000 feet or lower. Sure, there may be some correlation, but when PAP losses really matter to your operation doesn’t it make more sense to choose those who have spent their lives under conditions similar to yours and are truly “stress tested” for PAP?

With our lowest elevation at 8,000 feet, it is no wonder we can tell customers we have “True High Altitude Cattle”
