We are eagerly awaiting the 2023 Black Summit Cattle Company annual bull sale. This is the best set of bulls the LaFollette family has offered yet! The LaFollette’s have taken a very balanced breeding approach with a goal of producing correct made, sound, high performing cattle that work in western environments all while trying to improve end product merit for their customers calves. They have not chased extremes and are breeding cattle that will work for the long haul for their commercial customers. They are also working very hard to provide marketing avenues for their commercial customers calves to help them achieve top dollar for their genetic investments. All in all, their customer service is second to none. To top it off these bulls have been PAP tested and many are suited for high elevation.

As we enter into a period of historically low cow numbers, the lowest since the 1960’s, cow-calf producers will see some really good times. With these high calf prices on the horizon, it is even more important to focus on your genetic base to capitalize on these higher prices. We all know that input costs have also been increasing at historic rates. This is why producing problem-free cattle that require less inputs is so important for you bottom line. The LaFollette’s have focused on producing cattle that fit these needs. Also let’s not forget about the only free lunch in the beef business and that is hybrid vigor. It is proven study after study that crossbred cattle see an increase in pounds and cowherd fertility when compared to their straightbred counterparts.
