For as many fans as he had, there, like usual, were some doubters in the crowd. I must say that anyone that doubted may be a good candidate for a regretter, regret for not investing in the best purebred son of Upper Class. The only regret that I have for the bull himself, is the fact that this first calf crop is unyielding in quality, look, balance, and kind to their contemporaries and because of that, I COULD NOT convince David and Jody to consign any of the progeny to this sale. They are selling some awfully good cows that would be the dams of the heifers that they kept in which each of them is carrying the service back to this potential legend of a breeding bull. Remember that his foundation dam is one of the few selected to start the FBF Simmental program, S600. His dam is the productive, past National Champion, X-Clamation, that continues to out produce herself and has averaged well over $2000/ embryo sold. This cow family has generated over a half million in sales on a limited number of head. So it is with no regret, the privilege of the Bonafide group to offer 200 units of semen in 20 sets of 10 units to the public October 16, 2016. or those that may not know the Bird family, we’ll enlighten you. Brandon, his wife Lindsay, along with daughters Berkley and London just happen to be another, salt of the earth, West Texas Family with a passion and desire for quality and success. Growing up, Brandon was exposed to and exhibited some of the best steers in the state, and after the passing of his famous father, J. Bird, the passion for the business reignited. He invested heavily in the club calf sector, acquiring the best that were offered by some of the leading outfits in that sector of the business. They were able to assemble and sort to utilize only the best of the best for their donor battery. Nearly 3 years ago they had a major club calf genetic dispersal, but he had already switched gears and had began assembling a maternal base the fall prior. Brandon started putting together, again form the best outfits, low percentage Simgenetic and Maine influenced females that would be used in a recipient fashion for the club calf side and then invested in Simgenetic and clean pedigreed Maine influenced bulls for turnout purposes. After the first set of calves, he was sold on the value and kind of the Sim-influenced stock, which lead to the partnership with BF Black Simmentals on the acquisition of Innocent Man from Werning’s, and the purchase of the sire of these females. This page of like sired and like consigned females are from a son of Pays To Believe and out of a Mastercard sired sister to Wheel Man. Allyson Ottensmeier selected her a few years back when FBF sold her at the N.A.I.L.E. sale, she went on to make the top ten overall when the AJSA Summer Classic was held in Lima, Oh. She has since went on to be a very productive donor in their budding program in Northeast Kansas. This is the first group of calves by him at Bird Cattle Co. and they are extremely pleased how these young ladies look. There is a percentage breakdown for all three to allow you to spread your options if this is where you chose to set your satchel down. ne of the toughest things my family and I have done in our life journey was to leave Foster Brothers seven years ago. David and Jody, along with their families were a pleasure to work for and be around, we learned a lot in our tenure there about the importance of family and how to survive in production agriculture. However, as hard as the people and the community were to leave, the cow herd that was assembled, the young donor pen, and the certainty of what lied ahead for them as a program was also hard to walk away from. These SimAngus and Angus females were being weaned when we left and by studying their kind in this book, it’s easy to realize why. The lead off female is a Dual Focus sister to Wheel Man. This mating was done initially to enhance the paper value of the resulting progeny, but it yielded much more over time. Star Struck is by the proven Momentum which for the time was the combination of maternal and carcass for the breed and then backed by a maternal base developed in the Clemson system that was equal in the traits influenced by her sire. The Dual Focus stock are a large sire group across the country, a bull recognized for real world values and longevity in production. His daughters will surface to the top of many operations and have phenotypic presence and value. The next female is one that I have admired time and again during ranch visits. She’s from the most productive daughter of OCC Anchor that FBF ever owned, consistently weaning big calves with growth and eye appeal. The mating to the Power Drive son produced in the Wheatland program of Canada, yielded not only this female but a solid set of brothers that year too. She’s continued down the same path as her dam as evident by the inset picture of a Bonafide daughter she weaned this fall. We are selling the factory and keeping the next generation of the good stuff, so that FBF can continue to bring the good stuff to the Black Label. The last of the trio of proven Simgenetic excellence from FBF is the 231W female who is another example of what the Ohlde/ Duff influence can do on a set of good SImgenetics. It’s a virtual shame that “The Formula” in Bozeman penalizes cows of this kind and build in regards to their genetic indicators. She too has a Bonafide daughter that FBF is retaining to insure a successful future in the years to come. The First Look sire group treated FBF very well, but this female stems back to the same sire that influenced the great Hollywood Queen donor female. Black Max may have been before his time but when it worked, it worked like this. This is a very impressive and great constructed female, with the ideal influence to yield the necessities for profit and desirable change in a program.
