CONTINUOUS GROWTH & PROGRESS
Dear Friends,
Nancy and I are happy to extend an invitation to you for our 5th Annual Spring Bull sale on March 8. The beef industry is currently experiencing remarkable growth, with feeder cattle and replacement females achieving record prices. We have a positive outlook for the beef market in 2025, especially after a strong finish to 2024, highlighted by our successful fall sale. The demand for Brangus cattle remains strong as our breed continues to play a vital role in enhancing beef production.
This spring at Cavender’s Ranches, we are excited to showcase the ongoing improvements we’ve made over the years through our bull sale. We will be presenting an exceptional lineup of 142 bulls, featuring 82 coming twos and 60 long yearlings, all in excellent condition and ready to breed. This sale boasts the best selection of bulls we’ve ever had for the Spring Bull Sale, complete with balanced and leading EPDs including calving ease. You’ll find bulls sired by our newest top sires, including Ace of Spades, New Standard, Deadwood, Longmire, Express, and Big League, alongside proven bulls from our program such as Masterpiece, Growth Fund, Paramount, Freightliner, Cowboy and more. Most of these bulls are the result of embryo transfer and artificial insemination from some of the great females and bulls in the breed.
We are thankful for the support from our cooperators and genetic partners, which, in combination with our offerings, promise an exciting sale. This year, our sale coincides with the Houston Genetic Edge Brangus sale, so we are starting at 11 AM. This timing allows our auctioneer and ring men ample time to reach Houston by that evening. We encourage all purebred breeders to stop by before heading to Houston and hope many of you can join us for the sale.
We invite everyone to preview the bulls on Friday, March 7, followed by a delicious steak dinner. After dinner, Nextgen Feedyard will present insights on Cavender Ranches’ feeder cattle results and our initiatives in partnering on truckload lots of steer calves that we are currently bidding on and acquiring from our clients. We are committed to enhancing the value of our customers’ cattle and look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and newcomers on Friday, March 7.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact any member of our ranch and marketing team. We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Joe Cavender, Cavender Brangus

MARKETING & CUSTOMER SERVICE
Welcome to the fifth annual Cavender Ranch Spring bull sale at Neches River Ranch. We want to thank you for your support of our sales at Cavender Ranch and let you know this Spring’s edition is comprised of 142 Brangus and Ultrablack bulls. With out a doubt this is our best offering from end to end we have ever offered in the spring.
As a matter of fact, when compared to all bulls in the breed, this offering ranks well across the board. Notice the chart on Page 13 of this catalog and compare the decided advantage of Cavender Bulls in your program.
When compared to breed average Brangus bulls in the IBBA registry, Cavender bulls in this sale offering provide you with 40% more weaning weight (WW). In today’s market, that is a lot of dollars in your pocket. They will give you 35% more yearling weight (YW). Important if you are preconditioning your calves. They offer 30% more REA and IMF than the average Brangus bulls in the breed. This is important if you are positioning your program for the option of retained ownership. Cavender bulls offer 30% more scrotal circumference and 35% better Fertility Index. Both Important in building a cow herd. And they do all this with breed average birth weight.
Perhaps the most impressive statistic, is the combination of breed leading traits evident. They are the results of a disciplined approach and multi-trait selection in our cow herd
The offering is stacked with powerful herd sires for commercial and registered breeders alike. Proven performers populate the pedigrees of these Sale Bulls, many showcasing their first sons at public auction.
You will find some of the first sons to sell in volume by the young and exciting CB Deadwood 60H41, DMR Express 415J34, Ace of Spades 406J and CB Longmire 1062H12
who are destined to make their mark on the breed. There are sons of proven, powerful and useful herd sires such as CB Masterpiece 2051F, CB Growth Fund 2051G11, QVF Empower 30G16, BWCC Big Town 192B16, CB Paramount 7139H2 and MC Big City 541G40. Together these herd sires have been mated with the deep, quality laden Cavender cow herd to produce some unique and powerful genetics for our customers.
We are first, commercial producers. Our commercial herd out numbers our registered herd considerably. We know what works in our commercial cow herd and for generations Cavenders has put as much growth and power as could be had into a calving ease package because it works for us. This uncompromising approach to calving ease continues in this offering with over 42 bulls qualifying for use on heifers. There are123 bulls with elite or big growth and many are also calving ease qualifiers.
We continue to be consumers of our own product. We use the kinds of bulls selling in our own commercial cow herd and we harvest the commercial steers and lower end heifers. Of course, we are unwilling to compromise when it comes to carcass quality and we think you will find that in volume in this sale offering.
One of the most gratifying parts of these sales for us at Cavender Ranch is the demand we see for our product and the job they can do for you. We are pleased when our fellow Brangus breeders desire to own some of our bulls for their seedstock herd. However, we are delighted when our fellow commercial ranchers see fit to incorporate our genetics in their program. The availability of Cavender Bulls to fit any budget remains important to us at Cavenders. Please see the accompanying graph of past price distributions.
We look forward to seeing you March 7 to learn more about the first year of Cavenders Value Added Program and to view the bulls and join us for our customer appreciation dinner and stay for the sale at 11 AM March 8. Please note the new time. If any of us can do anything for you during your time with us, please let us know.

GENERAL INFORMATION
CATTLE LOAD OUT
Cattle will be available for load out immediately after the sale and proper settlement has been made on purchases. If you wish to loadout at a later date please note that when you check-out. Arrangements can then be made to have your cattle ready when you arrive.
SAVE ON SHIPPING AND HANDLING
You can save shipping and handling charges by picking up semen that you will need for your fall or spring breeding season at the Cavender Ranches Sale at Cavender’s Neches River Ranch. Representatives from either Cavender Ranches or Integrated Breeders will be available to fill your orders. We would ask that you keep your orders to goblet increments of 5’s or 10’s so that we can avoid excessive handling of semen. Please contact Mark Cowan at 903-495-4522 or Todd Harvey at 386288-8059 to place your order prior to the sale to assure we have enough semen on hand and available on sale day.
SALE ORDER
The cattle will sell in sale order. We will have a printed sale order prior to the sale. Please note that commercial females will not be going through the ring and will be presented on video.
GENETIC CONDITION POLICY
Any animals that are confirmed as carriers of a genetic condition such as DD, developmental duplication, will be listed above their pedigrees as DDC. Any animals we are still waiting test results on will be listed DDPC. All other animals have been either confirmed free of known genetic conditions by test results or from pedigree analysis.
TRUSTED PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
We are extremely dedicated to providing our customers the genetics needed to help positively impact their bottom line. We will not compromise the integrity of our data. Our utmost goal is to provide the information that will successfully identify the genetics most needed in your particular operation. The information provided by the IBBA was provided at weaning and yearling by the breeder for computation. We believe in EPD’s, but fully realize that they are only as good as the information provided to the association. Inaccurate weights and faulty contemporary groups lead to poor information and bad selection decisions. Please realize that these cattle were in different contemporary groupings at weaning; therefore, it is not fair to compare birth, weaning and yearling weights from one herd to another. A wide range of environments are represented in this offering and thus have affected those weights, plus different management comes into play, i.e. creep fed vs. not creep fed. Within herd weights and ratios were good when that was the only information we had. However, EPD’s are a much better indicator of genetic potential and are the only way across herd comparisons can be made. Also, we have listed the current non-parent Brangus breed average EPD’s in the catalog for your reference and comparison on how individual lots compare to the average of the breed in any trait.
ULTRABLACK
The Ultrablack program has been a major success for us and an in-demand product for our commercial customers. Please note that we have noted the UB1 cattle in this catalog with a green highlight and the UB2 with a blue highlight. We have not however made note of those females that may be carrying the service of an Angus sire or Ultrablack sire. While viewing this offering please keep this in
mind so that you are aware of what these female lots are bred to.
MAINTENANCE AFTER THE SALE
Cavender’s Neches River Ranch will work with customers on delivery of cattle in an effort to have the cattle delivered to customers as soon as possible after the sale. However, if you are not ready for the cattle at this time we will maintain the cattle at the ranch for a period of time until you are ready for them. A nominal fee of $3.50 per day will be charged plus any veterinarian charges incurred will be billed. Cattle will be maintained on a growing ration in grass traps. Cattle become the buyer’s responsibility immediately after the sale. Cavender Ranches is not responsible for insurance costs or death.
TRUCKING
At the conclusion of the sale or as soon as possible following the sale if purchases are made via video or sight unseen agreement; please notify the sales staff as to specific instructions about cattle delivery. If you request our assistance the Cavender Ranches staff will make every effort to help coordinate the most reliable and economical trucking available. Trucking expense will be the responsibility of the purchaser except on purchases of 10 or more bulls. Please see Free Delivery to Central Points offer. If you prefer to make your own arrangements Mike Cox Trucking will be available sale day to discuss your needs or we can place you in contact with other reliable truckers.
Please note that the animals you purchase become your responsibility at time of purchase. Cavender Ranches nor any of the breeders involved in this sale take responsibility for animals that may be injured in transport. Insurance is available for those who would desire that coverage.
SIGHT UNSEEN
SIGHT UNSEEN GUARANTEE WHEN PURCHASED THROUGH CAVENDER RANCHES PERSONNEL
If you are unable to attend the sale and want to purchase cattle sight unseen, please call any of the below listed sale personnel to assist you in making your selections. Give us a call prior to the sale to describe the type of female(s) or bull(s) you want and let us know your price range(s). You pay only the bid price, just as if you were bidding in person. We will call you after the sale to confirm your purchase(s), and confirm your method of payment. Your purchase will be delivered to a central delivery point when your payment is received. All sight unseen purchases made through Cavender Ranches personnel come with a 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE or we will refund your money.
At the conclusion of the sale or as soon as possible following the sale if purchases are made via video or sight unseen agreement; please contact Mark or Todd to arrange for payment and trucking. Cavender Ranches will make every effort to help coordinate the most reliable and economical trucking available. Trucking expense will be the responsibility of the purchaser. If you prefer to make your own arrangements Mike Cox Trucking and Darrel Pitchford will be available sale day to discuss your needs or we can place you in contact with other reliable truckers.
CAVENDERS VALUE ADDED PROGRAM
We are actively seeking Cavender Brangus genetics to bid on and buy in truck load lots. Whether you are a bull buyer using our genetics on your cattle, or purchasing commercial females through our sales, we would like the opportunity to bid on your calves at weaning. We are comfortable giving you a bid on your ranch or you consigning to on-line auctions, let us know by contacting Justin or Todd. If you would like us to partner with you on your cattle to spread your risk, we can do that also. We may not be able to win the bid on all of them, but we will do our best to add value to your program. A look at the feeding results chart of our steers on the next page will give you an idea why we are anxious to help and capable of providing assistance.
We recognize customer service goes a long way in adding value to our Brand. We want to be a partner in your sustainable production scheme and look forward to growing our relationship. We want to be a part of growing your cattle business and assisting you in adding value after your purchase.
We believe sustainable beef production is all encompassing. Stock cows must fit the environment. They must be able to convert forage to pounds of beef and they must bring a superior beef calf to the pens every year utilizing ranch available resources without major supplementation weather permitting. In the South that means heat tolerance, superior longevity, udder quality and fertility. If female, a high percentage of those calves must qualify as replacement heifers four your own herd or others. The steer calves must be capable of gaining in the feed lot and hanging profit-
able carcasses on the rail through a combination of gain, grade and yield. Cavender Ranch Bulls are capable of contributing to a balanced and sustainable beef production program.
At Cavender Ranches, we try to take the guesswork out. We have fed over 12,000 head of our own cattle over the past 25 years. In the chart on the next page, you can see the results of the past 5 years of our progress. We have harvested and collected carcass data on over 3,157 head of Cavender Ranch cattle since 2020. The total includes cull registered animals and cull heifers and steers from our commercial herd. It includes Cavender Ranch bulls on commercial Brangus, F1 Tigers and crossbred commercial females. We think it is a pretty impressive data set. Especially when considering it is all the harvest results, with nothing held back!

EPDs
Expected Progeny Difference (EPDs) is the best estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a particular trait. It takes into account the animals’ own performance compared with its contemporaries and the performance of its relatives compared against their contemporaries.
Birth Weight (BW) EPD predicts calf size and calving ease.
Yearling Weight (YW) EPD predicts overall growth potential. Milk EPD predicts the maternal contribution to weaning weight of the calf through milk production, behavior, immunity and other maternal environmental factors.
Total Maternal (TM) also, called M&G EPD predicts weaning weight of calves from a bull’s daughters.
Scrotal Circumference (SC) EPD predicts not only testicular size of male progeny but also daughters onset of puberty.
Terminal Index (TERM) combines birth weight, weaning weight, milk production, post wean gain, ribeye area, marbling, and back fat EPDs into a single number. The index is expressed as s standard deviation from the breed average, meaning that bulls with a +2 index are two standard deviations above
the average. Higher numbers are superior to low numbers.
Fertility Index (FERT) combines heifer pregnancy, stayability, days to first calving, mature cow weight, and back fat EPDs into a single number. The index is expressed as s standard deviation from the breed average, meaning that bulls with a +2 index are two standard deviations above the average. Higher numbers are superior to low numbers.
ULTRASOUND EPDs
Ribeye Area (REA) EPD predicts total muscle.
Intramuscular Fat (IMF) EPD predicts % of intramuscular fat which is highly correlated to marbling.
*REA and FT are primary components of USDA YG and marbling is the primary component of USDA QG.
PERFORMANCE
Individual performance data is provided as supplementary information as EPDs provide more reliable evaluation of genetic differences of animals.
Actual Birth Weight (BW) are reported.
Weaning Weight (WW) are adjusted to 205 days.
Yearling Weight (YW) are adjusted to 365 days.
Scrotal Circumference (SC) is adjusted to 365 days.
Yearling
AGE/ CLASSIFICATION
Average Daily Gain (ADG) is a measure of growth rate on a high energy diet. It is positively associated with feed efficiency.
Ribeye Areas (REA) are adjusted to 365 days and ratioed relative to contemporaries.
Intramuscular Fat (IMF) are adjusted to 365 days and ratioed relative to contemporaries. IMF is highly correlated to marbling.
Brangus EPDs are calculated by the Livestock Genetic Services and are part of a program called the National Cattle Evaluation (NCE).
EPD PERCENTILE RANKINGS
Individual ranking relative to the entire breed population on a specific trait, represented in the form of a percentage, with 1% being best and 99% being worst.
DISPOSITION SCORING
In the bull portion of this catalog we have included a disposition score for every Brangus & Ultrablack bull selling. 5 stars being the best and 1 being the worst. Please note the explanation of our scoring system below and contact Cavender Ranches with any questions you may have.

BIDDING
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final.
TERMS
Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the seller to see that animals are fed and cared for, until loaded for shipment or until the expiration of 48 hours after the sale, whichever occurs first. After 48 hours a maintenance fee of $3.50 per day will be assessed until pickup.
CASH SALES
All sales are for cash unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made with the seller or Cavender Ranches prior to the sale. Payment must be made within 30 days of the sale date.
SIGHT UNSEEN PURCHASES
Buyers may purchase cattle through Cavender Ranches personnel at auction or private treaty without viewing the cattle. For sight unseen purchases, the buyer has the right of inspection at the time of delivery. If the animal is deemed unsatisfactory, it may be reloaded on the delivery truck at no obligation to the buyer. All transportation expenses will be the responsibility of Cavender Ranches. If the purchaser is unable to view the animal upon delivery that purchaser would have one week to deem the animal as unsatisfactory. In this instance the buyer may, at their expense, return the animal to Cavender Ranches for a refund of the purchase price. DVAuction purchases do not fall under this guarantee.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY
A transferred certificate of registry will be furnished to the purchaser for each registered animal within 45 days of proper settlement.
HEALTH
Interstate health papers suitable for interstate shipment will be furnished on all animals as required by federal and state regulations.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Any changes from the information of any kind in this catalog will be provided in a sale day supplement sheet or announced from the auction block and such information shall take precedence over cataloged information.
BREEDING GUARANTEE
1. The seller guarantees all animals to be breeders with the exception of: a) Calves under 12 months of age at the time of sale;
b) animals shown by purchaser after sale in which the breeding guaranteed (if any) shall be agreed upon between the seller and the buyer;
c) animals who suffer injury or disease following the sale;
d) animals subjected to gross negligence by willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser.
2. The seller guarantees that all bulls are breeders for a period of 90 days following the initial turnout date with buyers herd as long as this occurs within 60 days of date of sale. Or in the case of a bull purchased in the fall and not used until spring or vice versa they will be guaranteed for the 90 days from that first date as long as bulls have been kept in good condition and not run with other older mature herd bulls. This only applies to bulls that are at least 12 months old at time of sale and have not been allowed to run with the herd until at least 14 months of age. Seller does not guarantee death loss or injury.
Any bull which settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by competent veterinarians, mutually agreed upon by buyer and seller, during any six-month period of trial (provided for in paragraph 2 of the section of these sales terms and conditions entitled “Option and Privilege of Return and Adjustment”), shall be considered a breeder unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller the seller makes no guarantees with respect to the bull’s ability to freeze semen.
3. The seller makes the following guarantees with respect to all “pregnant recipients”: (i) that the female is pregnant, (ii) that the resulting calf is of the pedigree represented, and (iii) that the resulting calf is of the sex
represented (if so represented).
SEMEN
1. Unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller, with respect to the sale of semen the seller makes no guarantees with respect to the performance or characteristics of such semen and the buyer is purchasing such semen “as is.”
EMBRYOS
1. Embryos being offered for sale will be sold “as is” unless the seller provides additional guarantees.
PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT OPTIONS:
1. With the exception of any applicable transportation expenses described herein, a seller shall never be liable to a buyer for an amount greater than the original selling price of any animal sold under these Sales Terms and Conditions.
2. Unless otherwise stated, all claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing to the seller within 180 days following the sale of the animal in question.
3. If an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the seller if it is in good condition and complies with the health requirements of the seller’s state. At the option of the buyer, the seller may issue a credit to the buyer for use in a future purchase or provide an animal of equal value subject to the approval of buyer. If the buyer exercises either such option, the claim shall be deemed fully and satisfactorily resolved. However, in the event that the buyer requests a refund of the purchase price, the seller may, at its option, either issue a refund of the full purchase price or, shall have 180 days from the date the animal is returned to the seller’s farm to conduct a trial to demonstrate the returned animal is a breeder. Refund of the full purchase price or demonstrated proof that the animal is a breeder during the test trial shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement of the claim. Any expense incurred for transporting an animal claimed to be a non-breeder will be the responsibility of the buyer, except that the seller will be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the buyer’s farm and the location where the sale took place. If the seller proves the animal to be a breeder, it will be the obligation of the buyer to take delivery of the animal and pay all transportation expenses.
4. If an animal (including the offspring of a pregnant recipient) is sold and through parentage verification is proven to have incorrect parentage, as represented by the animal’s certificate of registration and for which correct parentage can be determined, the seller is obligated to make satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price only to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the second anniversary of the date of the sale. Those animals upon which parentage verification has been recorded with the IBBA will be so noted in the sale catalog or in a supplement sheet. At time of purchase it becomes the buyer’s responsibility to adhere to the rules of the IBBA regarding parentage verification for animals used for semen and embryo production.

Other than the guarantees and warranties stated above, no other warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction.
