Connecting Communities with 4-H 2023 “Learn To Do By Doing”

“Connecting Communities” speaks to the heart of 4-H in many ways

For over 100 years, 4-H has been one of the most well-respected youth-serving organizations in Canada, delivering world-class positive youth development programming in the areas relevant to today’s youth.

Community engagement for 4-H’ers is about being involved in their school, neighborhood, town or city, and making a positive impact by communicating thoughts, ideas and solutions to challenges they see in the world around them. From building their confidence as a public speaker, to volunteering their time at local events, they are able to demonstrate community leadership through 4-H.

‘Learn to do by doing’ is the foundational concept for this youth-serving organization in its goal to help young Canadians. In 4-H, members learn about their projects, as well learn about responsibility, public speaking, serving the community, working with others, interview skills, and meeting management. Skills learned while participating in this program are invaluable, providing essential life skills that will be relevant to many practical applications throughout a member’s life.

Support for the 4-H program and rural youth is demonstrated through the purchasing of 4-H beef projects. We are very appreciative of individuals and businesses in the community who have supported 4-H through the purchase of a 4-H Market Steer project in the past, and look forward to support from future buyers as well. Several options are available for buyers of a 4-H beef project:

★ Steers may be purchased for freezer beef or may be resold at any auction market

★ To reduce individual cost, businesses and/or individuals may purchase a steer jointly if they prefer to do so

★ Club leaders or members families may be contacted in advance to make purchase arrangements if businesses and/or individuals are unable to attend the sale.

Businesses supporting the 4-H program through the purchase of beef projects will be acknowledged publicly at the sale and through social media afterward. The 4-H club members will assist buyers in transportation of calves following the sale, but each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the point of sale. Payments to be made by cheque only and made directly to the 4-H member.

Thank you for your support!

Please Notes: All sales are based on the June 2 District Show & Sale Weights; Club Show Weights in the catalogue are to provide buyers with an ESTIMATE purchase cost ONLY.
