A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR SPONSORS, WITHOUT THEIR SUPPORT, WE COULDN’T HAVE HAD SUCH GREAT EVENT!
Randy Gaskill has spent his life gaining knowledge of all animals. Learning from trapping, fishing and big game hunting growing up in the mountains of Colorado. He has spent most of his life cattle ranching, but decided Bison was what really interested him.
He started a bison herd at a ranch that previously raised elk. He then began to develop his own herd 22+ years ago. He’s spent many years observing and studying bison as well as asking questions and learning from Bison ranchers. He feels that a quality animal should have the bone and structure for strength of conformation.
Justin Dorey is the second generation raising Irish Creek bison stock near Vermilion Alberta with his wife Shaelyn and their 3 children.
Irish Creek Bison is a cow calf operation. Their top bulls and heifers are selected for breeding stock and the rest go into the finishing program right on the ranch. Irish Creek Bison is passionate about raising bison and work hard to improve genetics, lengthen the growing and grazing season in hopes of yeilding a better bison for breeding, management and meat purposes.
Owners Lyle and Debra Froehlich We have been raising bison on our ranch in Marwayne, AB since 2002. In 2012, we expanded the ranch to include Goodsoil, Saskatchewan. Between the two ranches we have tried to build our herds using some of the top genetics from across Canada. We enjoy working in the industry, both with the animals and the people associated.
Shale Creek Bison Ranch is located just outside of Russell, MB and is owned and operated by Jamie & Debbie and our 2 daughters Danielle & Tara. Our herd is 80% breeding stock, which is selected from show & sales across Canada. We have been very successful at many show & sales and are very proud of what we have accomplished. The largest honour yet for our ranch has been chosen as the Bill Lenton award winner at the 2017 MBA convention. We welcome anyone to come & visit our ranch so we can show you our animals.
Bison Ridge Farms is owned and operated by Denver and Becky Johnson and is located near Prince Albert, SK on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. As we strive to regenerate our soil and the way we farm, adding bison seemed like the perfect fit. Integrating bison into our neighboring family grain farm of over 20 years has allowed us to grow our own quality feed, improve soil health, and utilize a diverse landscape. Our goal is to produce and raise quality Wood bison and we are very proud of the breeding stock that has been selected to make up our herd. Our bulls bring genetics from RJ Bison Ranch and Viking Bison.
Check us out at www.bisonridgefarms.com , give us a call, or stop by if you’re in the area!
Silver Creek Bison first purchased bison in 1988 and currently run 1800 head. We run a cow/calf through to finishing program and keep close records throughout to select for our breeding program. Over the years we have moved the majority of the breeding to Wood X bulls on the Wood X cows to improve conformation, carcass yield, and other carcass traits. We run a herd of pure Wood and a herd of pure Plains to supply seedstock to other producers. If you are in our area please stop in, we would be glad to show you around.
Roaming K Bison was started in 2000 as a division of Kitzul Farms Ltd, located South west of Foam Lake. It is owned and operated by Dale, Laurie, and Keegan Kitzul.
Prior to 2000, we were only grain farmers. Dale knew he had to diversify into another venture. “We have too much waste land that isn’t farmable”, Dale would say. We currently grain farm 4000 acres, and have over 850 head as we start to finish all our stock.
Our 4 breeding herds consist of 225 cow/calf pairs and 40 bred heifers that we rotate into the program as needed, or sell as breeding stock. We put great time in sourcing and breeding our stock, as we focus on fast finishers with high quality carcasses to meet the growing demand of bison meat. Our herd sires come from Shale Creek Bison, Silver Creek Bison, Bison Spirit Ranch, XY Bison, and our own breeding program.
If it’s breeding stock, meat or grain, everything on our farm is raised with passion and sold with pride. We’re proud to be a Saskatchewan farm and ranch family!
Prairieland Bison is located near Hodgeville, SK and is owned and operated by Cole & Shelby Haubrich and their two sons Davis & Cohen. We run a Cow/Calf operation that consists of pure Wood & Wood Cross Bison. We also have a feedlot business with BCD Feeding Company and finish around 500 head per year. Each year we keep our Top Quality females for replacement Heifers and buy Top Quality Bulls to improve our breeding genetics. In 2019 Prairieland Bison was awarded Premier Breeder at the Canadian National Show & Sale. We would like to thank all the buyers who purchased our animals over the years. If you’re in the area we would be more than happy to give you a tour of our farm.
Located in Stoughton,SK. Family run since 2019, Big D Bison is striving to become one of the top pure plains bison producers by implementing best practices learned through the Canadian Bison Association. Recently DNA tested herd.
Our bison herd was started in 1996 with the purchase of 10 heifers calves from the Schwitzers. The herd has now grown to over 245 females in 4 separate herds. We are continually improving the quality of our herd by making select purchases of top quality breeding stock and meticulously selecting females out of our own herd. We are both proud and excited to be involved in the bison in- dustry and see a very bright future for this industry in the upcoming years.
Our farm is in southeast Saskatchewan and consists of 350 bison cows, plus our feeding operation. It was started by Rebecca’s parents, Ryan and Roberta Clark. They quickly saw the benefits of having a strong Wood influence in the herd and began sourcing genetics from many of the top ranches. Beaver Creek, Hanging Ice, Connacher, Marshall Patterson, Rio-Lita Bison, and the LaPrairie herd from the Yukon After 20 years, those foundation herds are still the baseline for our operation today. We background all of our offspring with the intention of using them as replacements. We routinely track growth and development and have selected based on confirmation, fertility, and carcass traits.
As a result, we’ve been able to consistently build our herd with animals that are true to type. Our aim is to efficiently produce the type and quality of bison that succeed in any production or feeding system. Visitors are always welcome. We are proud to be part of the bison business in Canada.
It was 22 years ago this March that Rocky Meadow Bison first became established. What started as a childhood fascination for the animal and always requesting to visit the parks that had bison on family camping trips, and after growing up around beef cattle and my experience with calving and maintenance requirements, bison had already attracted my curiosity and interest as a more suitable alternative by my early teens and the dream of hopefully someday becoming a bison rancher began shortly thereafter. That dream came closer to reality when an opportunity came along either by chance or by fate to purchase a small group of plains heifers while working in the Drayton Valley area at the age of 21. With time and additional purchases from reputable breeders, the herd has since grown and evolved into a very uniform group of 80 extremely docile, thick productive plains females. A good portion of our current cow herd consists of our own homegrown heifers that were meticulously selected for confirmation and productivity.
These bison are my pride and joy! and are allowed to live an extremely low stress life and are more than happy to be rotationally grazed throughout the summer and placed on stockpiled forages or crop residue till early winter. With a continued effort to focus on herd and pasture management, and with the guidance and advice from seasoned producers, I am very pleased with the results of these efforts made over time. Raising bison is my passion! And as always, I am very excited to attend and participate in CBA’s Annual Show and Sale!

Third generation breeder of XY Bison Ranch. I have started with three heifers that I bought from Bill Bouffioux (My Dad) about 26 years ago. I have won Grand Champion male CNSS reserve male Wildrose 2x, 3 gold females, one reserve champion female and several other championships.
XY Bison Ranch operated by Bill and Fay with daughters Cyndy and Sandy is located along the Peace River near Fort St. John, BC. The cow herd (mainly dark) was started 35 years ago with plains heifers originating from Merv Stag’s herd. The breeding herd has been carefully selected for confirmation, self reliance, consistent calving and high yielding carcasses. Our current bull battery consists of 2 Irish Creek Bulls. The bison are raised on pasture during summer and alfalfa/ brome hay with oats for feeder and show animals.

At Canadian Rangeland Bison, we’re dedicated to keeping bison production in Canada
We prioritize quality, sustainability, and strong support for local producers.
Supporting slaughter capacity in Canada is crucial. By partnering with us, you’re not just a supplier—you’re a key player in maintaining and growing the domestic market.
We aim to ensure that producers get the best price for their bison and that humane animal treatment is prioritized by limiting haul distances.
Choosing to process your bison with us means supporting local jobs and the Canadian economy. It also ensures a steady supply of locally sourced bison meat for domestic consumers and meets the high standards required for export to the EU, unlocking lucrative opportunities.
Join us in keeping our bison home, strengthening our markets, and exploring new horizons in the EU.
Our plants in Wetaskiwin and Lacombe, Alberta, are close to most Canadian bison producers, with many within three hours and the farthest about eight hours away.
Centrally located slaughter facilities
Ensuring that the freshest product reaches the market. Significantly reduces shrinkage and trucking costs.
• over 30,000 bison were harvested annually in Canada
• Canada is the only country with a 0% trade deal for bison exports to the EU.
