Welcome to our First Annual Bull and Female Sale

On behalf of Nicklason Stock Farms, I would like to welcome everyone to our First Annual Bull and Female Sale. For those who don't know us, our family operates a family based operation in Deadwood, Alberta, one hour north of Peace River. We run a mixed farm and ranch operation with the cow herd as the main focus. The farm was started by my parents, Jim and Shirley who are both celebrating their eightieth birthdays this year. Dad’s keen eye and passion for cattle has been contagious and passed on to us and we hope to continue and build on this legacy. On a bull tour in 2020, the Circle G cows caught my eye and on learning Garth was dispersing his Angus cows, we were fortunate to be able to get our pick of his d Angus cow herd. Prior to acquiring a Purebred Angus herd the focus of our mmercial cattle management was based around strong maternal racteristics and these cows completely fit in. r cow herd is not pampered, we calve in May and the calves are pastured with m, until approximately February. Our weaning date is set by when the swath zing runs out. Although some years it may be tough on the dam, we feel it ps gut and reproductive development in the calves and it naturally sorts off dams who can't thrive in this environment. We also cull on disposition, der, foot and leg structure. The bulls are then developed moderately and wly with no creep on forage, oats and pellets. To our best ability, the herd sire l power is researched and selected on having a great dam and sire behind m, as well. The cow herd and bulls are on a full health program with limited of antibiotics.

BULL AND FEMALE SALE

Sale starts March 24th at 8 AM and closes March 25th at 6 PM with racehorse style timed sale with soft close and extended bidding

Terms and Conditions

Retaining Interest: The seller reserves the right to collect “owners use” semen from any bull in the sale at the sellers expense and buyers convenience

Breeding Guarantee: All bulls will be semen tested by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale all deferred bulls will be noted as such. All Heifers have been verified bred and palpated for breeding soundness by a licensed veterinarian

Terms: All cattle purchases will be invoiced to the buyer, and payment in form of e-transfer or cheque will be accepted. Payment is required upon receiving the invoice. Cattle will not be released from the sale premises until payment is received in full, unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Every animal sells to the highest bidder. We reserve the right to withhold animals from shipment for whom payments have not been received prior to departure times.

Buyer Registration: Buyer will have to register with DLMS prior to Farmgate timed auction at www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca.

Purchaser’s Risk and Insurance: Ownership risk to purchaser commences immediately following auction. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased.

Bull purchases include free delivery up to 300km and until April 15th.

Feed costs are free until April 15th, $5/day after April 15th, 2024.

Females must picked up within a week of the sale.

Houston is a bull from the reckoning and renown who is known for his great daughters. Houston is a dark cherry bull with a shorter frame but good depth. He is a very stout, big hipped bull who we used. We look forward to calving his heifers this year, his dam was a heifer calf champion at olds fall classic in 2010. She is a elite premier dam and is still in production at Ter-ron farms as an X. Deep thick calves with good longevity and fertility in this line

This cow produces one of the heaviest calf every year. The Miss Linett line is strong and has many descendants combined with the deep end line know for performance and hard to go wrong

Thunder is a calving ease specialist. He produces wedged shaped good looking heifers, while having some of the best feet. We really liked his dam at Running Jr as she had a perfect udder and feet. He is a true sleep at night calving ease bull.
