1 Charity Steer 2022

Introducting Charity 2022! The charity steer project is the Regional 4-H members’ way of giving back to the generous communities that have always supported them. The clubs rotate which Club is responsible for raising the steer each 4-H year. This year the Canwood 4H Beef club had been proud to host the 2022 Charity Steer.

“Vic” will make his appearance at PA Regional 4-H Show and Sale on June 12 & 13 at the Prince Albert Exhibition grounds. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Victoria Hospital Foundation. Thank you to JGL Livestock for donating the steer, Ma’s General Store & Sun Rise Trucking for providing the feed, J&R Meats for donating the cutting & wrapping. A big thank you to the Altstadt Family for feeding and caring for the steer this year.

The Charity steer program started back in 2001, with the local 4-H members now having raised over $320,00 for local charities through this initiative. Last year alone raised almost $150,000 and we are hoping this year to be as successful.

A New Hospital for the North will give Prince Albert and surrounding communities quality health care close to home and the new rooftop Helipad will assist in emergencies for rural areas. The Canwood 4-H Beef Club members are graciously asking for your support. “Vic” will be sold via live Dutch Auction on June 13th at our Regional 4-H Sale located at the Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds. The sale starts at 3:00PM

Every $20.00 donation equals 1 chance to be entered to win the 2022 Charity Steer. Online donation via DLMS Auction, register at www.dlms.ca For further information contact Canwood 4-H Beef Club Lindsay 306-468-7044, Tanis 306-961-4323

We all hope we never need acute health care, but when we do, we hope it will be efficient, lifesaving, and comforting. Too often, those of us in Prince Albert and surrounding communities have been faced with added stress, travel, expense, and cultural disconnection on our healthcare journeys. The Victoria Hospital doesn’t currently have the capacity or the equipment to sufficiently treat all those in need. The 60+ year-old hospital was built in a different time to fulfill different needs, and finally, after years of hoping for more advanced -- and culturally responsive -- care, the Vic is embarking on a major renovation and expansion to build the capacity that will better serve the community. The Victoria Hospital Foundation has embarked on a unique partnership with the Government of Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Healthy Authority and the Prince Albert Grand Council to renew and expand the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital. The goal is to provide the highest quality of care, delivered with respect and cultural responsiveness, to all people from all communities in Northern Saskatchewan. This project will change healthcare in the North for generations to come. Your gift to the New Hospital Campaign will have a significant impact on your family, friends and those you care about. For more information on this once-in-a-lifetime project, please contact the Victoria Hospital Foundation office.
