from Southern Angus Farms
Welcome to our sixth annual sale. I’m glad to have you view our offering. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster this year with the election south of the border and at least in the south of our province, we had a good but different year weather wise. Cattle prices have remained strong and feed prices reasonable which makes cattle a good investment still. There is lots of fall grazing which should add some value to the bottom lines.
New this year is our commercial bulls. We bought a package of simmental heifers as recipients and we kept a few of the calves to offer in the sale, an excellent opportunity to ad a cross into your program if you wish to. Of course they come with the same guarantee our purebred animals do and are eligible for the warranty program.
This is the second year of us offering commercial heifers. It’s a real economic that the North American herd is at the lowest numbers it has been in a long while. In my humble opinion, if you are in cattle for the long haul I think the next decade should be a good time to expand a little if you have the ability.
So with that I’d like to thank all who have helped this happen and don’t forget to join us after the sale for some hospitality
Regards
Chad Trowbridge

Southern Angus worked with a nutritionist to develop a total mix ration with a supplement to provide extra protein to grow the bulls but not have them over fat.

WINTERING PROGRAM AND DELIVERY Offering free wintering until March 1, 2024. Semen tests are deferred until March and bulls that are wintered come with a money back guarantee. Bulls that are going back to the farm MUST have purchased warranty or third party insurance on all bulls. Southern Angus is not responsible for more than the purchase price of the bull. There will be free delivery if it is within a couple hours drive.
BULL WARRANTY We are pleased to offer this year a bull warranty that can be purchased at the time of sale. Buying a bull is a big investment for your ranch and we want to make sure you are covered. Accidents can happen so here is our proposal. At time of settlement at sale, warranty can be purchased for 11 % of purchase price of the animal. This warranty covers you for injury and death that happens during accepted cattle handling practices and breeding conditions during wintering at our ranch as well as the first breeding season that you use the bull. In the event you need to make a claim notify Chad as soon as possible. A vet report will be required for claim purposes. Settlement will be made in form of a replacement bull of equal value if available or a sale credit to next years sale. Value of settlement is less salvage when possible. Mistreatment, mismanagement or neglect of animal is a void of this warranty.

7M is sired by Hoss and traces back to a proven cow family we’ve kept in the herd for good reason. The bull calves are a hit with ranchers that need bulls to get out and walk vast pastures.

Another Rubicon here. Consistent middle in these calves. Lots of body and capacity. Capacity is an important factor in feed efficiency as it lends to forage options on pasture and in the feedlot.

This Barstow Bankroll son came out of nowhere! We needed a bull for the heifers so we decided to use him. He went out at around 1200 pounds and came back in at 1600 pounds and everything we saw him breed was in calf! He gets fat so easy that he is a pleasure to feed because it doesn’t take much. We are seeing the same look and quality in his progeny. In the pasture he is the hardest working bull I have seen. Stays with the cow until she is settled and makes sure to check all the cows frequently. He doesn’t rest by the water when there is work to be done.
