TRIPLE J BLACK ANGUS
Welcome to our 16th Annual Bull Sale...
We welcome everyone back to the farm south of Whitewood, SK for our 16th Annual Bull Sale on April 8th.
We feel this group of bulls is even better than last years! More uniform, more consistent, bigger testicles, more length, with more thickness and size. These bulls are full of muscle & meat and all have good feet & legs.
The bulls have been on a 4 acre pasture since weaning. They have to walk for their silage & hay and back to get to the water bowl.
All of our heifers are on only a free choice hay ration. No silage or grain as we want then to grow out naturally.
Reference Sires for this year’s offering include: HF Hot Lotto 54D, HBH Future 49F, Parkwood Dually 69G, TJF 505 Freedom 4H, ARY Govenor 917G, TJF Heavy Si 12D, Lazy E Stockman 8H, South Shadow 9C Wrath 219J and Chapman Robust 0772H.
We invite you to join us a sale day. If you’re unable to join us, videos of all bulls will be available on DLMS as well as live bidding. All of our sales staff have seen the bulls, and will be able to help you select a bull to meet your needs. If you have any questions, please give any of us a call - we’d love to visit!
Hope to see you on sale day,
The Jeannots

One word Dad always stressed was “Roots”.
What he meant by that was herd health. He stressed he had seen and saw Hoof and Mouth Disease, Bangs and so on. He was proud that we never had any of them.
The “Triple J” farm name was named for Dad and his 2 brothers, Lawrence and Ed. They ran 5 breeds of cattle. Dad took an AI course and back then they used ampules instead of straws. They narrowed down the breeds and the 2 that stayed were Simmentals and Polled Herefords. I remember Dad saying “selling 1/2 bloods for big money at Agribition”. Then years later, size came in the 70’s and 80’s - the cattle got too big and you couldn’t afford to keep them. Dad and his brother Ed kept the Hereford herd and ran it for many years. They didn’t like the way the breed was going so dispersed the herd privately over a few years. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, we purchased 30 Elite Angus females from Grant Wilson of Lenore, MB. Another cattleman that Dad admired was Jim Easton - 2J Angus from Wawota, SK. They were both good, honest cattlemen. Later on we admired the cattle that were presented and raised by Barry Young of Youngdale Angus. You put Dad & Barry together and there was a lot of knowledge and truth on how cattle should be raised. These two cattlemen saw all the fads coming and going in the industry.
Joe Jeannot 1935 - 2023When you talked to Dad, his favorite Angus Bulls to walk this farm:
1 - Western Freedom 505
2 - Remington Ambush 290T
3 - Triple J Freedom 10T
4 - Triple J Ambush 14Z - sold to HBH for $14,500
5 - Youngdale Knockout 134U - Sire of Excaliber & Believe
6 - Triple C Knockout 11c - sold to Rod & Carrie Williams of Crane Valley, SK
7 - Triple J Knockout 8A - sold to Larry Nielsen, Darke, SK
8 - BBAR Legacy 76T - purchased from Harvey Bowerman - a bull that Jim Nugent said could be one of the best bulls out there today. The females are still in production here today. I call Dad’s cows the Y, Z and A models - they look like 5 year old cows
9 - 121Z & 121X - Legacy sons who did a very good job for us
10 - Daines Heavy Si 57Z and his son Triple J Heavy Si 12D
Dad’s legs started to give out on him but his mind was still sharp. He said for me to take over was the toughest decision. With lack of help - I sent the hired help to track down bulls. We came across HF Hot Lotto 54D and HBH Future 49F. Then a good friend, Cam Morgan, mentioned Parkwood Dually 69G. Buying these bulls sight unseen, I was worried. When Dad came out on his quad to check them out after we purchased the bulls - he praised how good they were. Then I knew he had passed his knowledge on to me. When I told him I purchased Lazy E Stockman 8H - tears came to his eyes. His sire, TC Stockman 365, was the foundation of Grant Wilson’s herd. They were hardy cattle. When he saw Freedom 4H he said “why did you sell that bull”. I told him I only sold 1/2 interest and 1/2 possession so we could still use the bull.
The roots of a Cattleman, when a bull is introduced we keep all of the daughters off each bull. If there are more throw aways than keepers - the offspring, bulls and heifers, were culled whether the bull was or not.
I recall Rob Selke saying that Dad told him “if they’re not good enough for us, then they’re not good enough to sell.” Dad was a big believer in line breeding - he said you found your faults out. Either they were good or they were duds. He stressed good feet and legs, udders, length, hair coats and size - not too big and not too small. When all this was in place he would say to draw semen on the bull as our insurance on the genetics.
I know I’m not as good a cattleman as Dad was but I hope I can live up to his expectations.

FEATURE BULL
Talk about a bull. Ask Richard Bramley. 54L is the best calf off Future 49F.
This bull is long, very strong over the top, just like his sire - foot and heel improvement. Tremendous thickness, very smooth in the shoulder and doesn’t fall behind in the heart girth. Very free moving. Lots of hair. We are very happy with the udder attachment, teat placement and quality of milk in 49F’s daughters.
1F was the biggest 2 year old in Brent Stewart dispersal. We found her hidden in the mature cow pen. Seeing what she has produced in her first year - we couldn’t go wrong purchasing her. She has lots of hair, beautiful udder, very thick, lots of muscle and excellent heel & foot. One we are seriously putting in our donor program. 49F got too big for us - he weighed 2750lbs when we sold him.
Would like to do terms on this bull.

54D has been an amazing bull- that adds lots of frame and body. He is a good footed and smooth walking bull.
This is the first year that his daughters are in production on our farm, and they haven’t disappointed us. All have great square udders and lots of milk. The maternal instinct is there and their disposition is out of this world. What can I say about his bulls- the meat, muscle and length and not to mention lots of testicle development.

HBH Future 49F

We have been told he is one of the best footed walking Angus bulls. Good foot and heel - a trait he passes on to all his offspring. Futures calves are not the biggest but they sure can grow. Lots of performance there.
His daughters are in production here as well this year and are amazing, quiet mothers. No problems calving them out with lots of pelvic room. There is lots of milk to grow some big calves. He improves udders.
Joseph Upshaw from New Brunswick purchased a 49F Daughter in our sale last year and is very pleased with her and how well she is raising her calf.

A performance bull with excellent feet and heel. A long bull that passes that length on to his bull calves. The bulls are strong, power house animals. His heifers are moderate framed - with lots of milk. The teat placement and udder development is phenomenal.

2187530 AEHA 4H Jan. 25, 2020
4H sold in our 2021 sale to Wilson farms in Ontario - ½ interest ½ possession for $11,500. He is almost a spitting image of his sire -Western Freedom 505. This bull has a short gestation and is a calving ease, moderate framed bull.
We have used 4H on our heifers 2 years in a row. We are looking forward to seeing his daughters in production next year.

LAZY E Stockman 8H

We had the chance to purchase this bull from Lazy E Bar Ranching, Jim Bleakley of Bashaw, AB. 8H is out of the great TC Stockman 365 who was the National Western Senior Champion Bull in 1996. Like his father, 8H has proven to throw great bulls that gain his powerful hip and hind leg structure with impressive thickness on top and daughters that have the potential to grow to great herd starting cows
ARY Govenor 917G

A son off Hot Lotto 54D that we purchased from Ray and Barb Airey before we purchased Hot Lotto. Like his father- he gives his sons- lots of muscle mass and body. 917G has a great disposition -very quiet maybe to quiet.
TJF Heavy Si 12D

A bull that will be on this farm until he dies. Dad always said “this bull is going to take us to the next level.” As a complete outcross in the angus industry he has done us well - leaving us great bulls and tremendous females.
12D is a moderate frame bull with great bone structure. His bulls are strong with lots of muscle, and his females have made amazing mothers.
CHAPMAN Robust 0772H
2243853 SWC 0772H Apr. 12, 2020
Cavin Wilson and Barb Peddie, along with ourselves bought some amazing cows out of the Circle G ,Garth Cutlers of Lacombe, AB dispersal sale that were bred to 0772H. His sire, BC Robust, was the high selling bull in the 2017 Conley angus sale and the leadoff bull in the champion pen of 3 bulls at the NWSS. 0772H was one of the feature Robust sons in the Chapman Cattle Co. sale and is backed by a very good cow. Like his sire, 0772H has excellent feet, lots of mass and substance with “the look” of a breeding bull.
