C O - D E S I G N 2ND PLACE AWARD WINNING PROJECT AT THE 2013 WSU SURCA & ACADEMIC SHOWCASE SYMPOSIUMS A 2010 census showed that LaCrosse’s population had dropped from 1,000 to 318 residents. Wishing to revitalize the community, the LaCrosse Community Club wishes to re-purpose the town’s Masonic Hall. This building serves as LaCrosse’s only community event building. Their goal is to increase population growth and re-purpose the town’s only event space.
PROJECT GOAL: REBUILD THE CORE OF THE COMMUNITY Project: Turn the historic Masonic Hall into an Event Space + Gallery Center
+ Multi-Functional | Open to large functions or intimate affairs + Draw people off the nearby highway & into the community + Revenue generator for the community + Utilize Co-Design process to involve community members

All current walls in the existing space will be demolished. The building addition is designed for phased construction. While the exterior addition is being built, interior plumbing functions can be utilized until the new addition is complete. This will produce funding, and the building can continue to be used during construction.
