What you can

Expect  The Eller College of Management is home to 5,500 undergraduate students at the University of Arizona—a PAC 12 public university with boundless opportunities and a lot of pride. We may be large, but our program is designed to build a small, close-knit community of peers. Once you have been professionally admitted into Eller as a junior, you’ll join a cohort of students with whom you’ll take all of your core classes. You’ll work together on presentations, case competitions, and the rigorous classwork that will prepare you for your career. You’ll engage with faculty members who will help you understand the landscape of business and your place in it, as you grow as a leader through co-curricular involvement, international travel, and professional networking.

“My favorite faculty member in my major is Dr. Joe Broschak. He taught my designing and managing organizations course and was a great professor. Dr. Broschak really cares about his students and takes the time to make sure everyone understands the course material.” Amanda Martinez, Eller Business Management ’14

You will learn from the

The University of Arizona is a top research institution—ranked #19 among public schools by the National Science Foundation. What does that mean for business students? That we attract faculty who are leading researchers in the fields of accounting, finance, economics, management information systems, management, and marketing. Top research can take up to ten years to make it into textbooks—which is why it’s so important to learn from professors who bring their research into the classroom.

“I served as president of Delta Sigma Pi my senior year. The main reason why I became involved was because I felt it was important to surround myself with people that I admire so one day I could be in the shoes of my role models. You need people in your life to push you along to the path of success in the future.”

“Most people think the only benefit [to being an honors student] is registering for classes early (which is definitely great) but you also get to take honors classes that allow you to get to know professors better, and you get to work closely with a faculty member to write your thesis your senior year. As a business student you also get direct admission to Eller and have a wonderful honors academic advisor.” Amanda Martinez, Eller Marketing and Business Management ’14

“I took a class trip to Mexico in the Global Business Program. It was my first time crossing the border and was enlightening in addition to being a lot of fun. We had the opportunity to interact with students on a college campus in Hermosillo where we heard experts talk about international trade and the challenges of doing business abroad. It took the learning experience outside of the classroom and made it hands-on, practical, and enjoyable.” Kelly Chavez, Eller Finance and Business Economics ‘14

Innovate  Become an entrepreneur Eller is home to one of the first—and still one of the best— entrepreneurship programs in the country. When our namesake, Karl Eller, bought his first company in the 1950s, he wished that he’d been exposed to entrepreneurial education in school. He made that possible for future generations when he made a gift to the UA to create what is now the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship. The McGuire Center offers two options: a competitive-entry, year-long program for those who want to focus on building a new venture from the ground up, and a required capstone class in innovation that you’ll take during your senior year at Eller.

Why? Because you need to know how to reason, to collaborate, to adapt, to fall down and to get up again—all in a safe place. Entrepreneurship education gives you a set of tools that you can use to identify problems and see opportunities, then find and use evidence to make a persuasive case for innovation. You’ll use those tools whether you go to work for a Fortune 500 company, a small business, a nonprofit, or your own venture.
