Sada Koslowski graduates in 2016. For the past three and half years, she has been on the crew team. She started crew because she was looking for a way to keep in shape but also to be a part of the campus community. Having never rowed before, Sada received the “Most Valuable Novice” award her first semester. That first year, she rowed as the bow or 1st seat. Sophomore year, Sada received MVP as a Coxswain. She has raced in “The Head of the Fish,” “The Head of the Genesee,” “Duel vs. D’Youville,” “Duel vs. Lemoyne” & “The State Championship.” Sada loves crew and was named to co-captain her junior and senior year with Brandi LaBounty. “I joined crew in 2012 (my freshman year). The crew team is small, so we became “family” very quickly. Crew challenges the athletes to find a new level of mental and physical grit. When your entire body is screaming in pain, you cannot breathe, your blisters have popped, your oar is broken and your seat has fallen off the track with over half the race left—you still have to keep rowing! You never stop rowing no matter how much it hurts or how close you are to nausea. You never stop rowing. It provides a life lesson of the necessity of always having to push through the rough patches and it creates a sense of relief to have one purpose and one purpose only—row. I had no idea that I would love crew as wholly as I do. My coach, Darren Zirbel is one of the most inspiring individuals I have ever met.”

Canterbury England

“So far my experience in Canterbury, England has been AMAZING! I have met people from all around the world—from Barcelona to Canada. I have been traveling to many different countries. Being abroad has made me open my eyes to all the different cultures out here.” Shannon Collado

Project REACH Alumni “Life after College” “After graduating, in September, I went to my niece’s school to drop off some paperwork. My mother, out of curiosity, asked if there were hiring. Just my luck...they were! I was interviewed on the same day and was hired on the spot. I currently work as a counselor for second graders in the after school program at P.S. 94. Now, I am also applying for a law internship in immigration law and have applied to Law School the fall of 2016.” Gessit Contreras, 2015 graduate

Amanda Ostrom, 2015 graduate

“My employment situation is GREAT! I started my new job as a Community Loyalty Representative at Chobani (the greek yogurt company). I finally figured it out!”
