Split systems air-conditioning comes in two types and they are the central systems and the mini split. In both these forms the evaporative or inside-atmosphere heat exchanger is kept apart at a distance from the outside atmosphere heat exchanger or the condensing unit.

The Mini-split was invented in 1973 by Daikin and later the brand expanded the invention and VRF took birth in 1982.
