Message from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago I am delighted to announce that the Government of Trinidad and Tobago will be hosting the Caribbean Investment Forum: “Partnering with Trinidad and Tobago to Create a Gateway Between The Commonwealth and the Americas, in partnership with the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC). The Forum will take place at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre in Port of Spain on 13-14 June 2011. The Forum will build on the outcomes of the Commonwealth Business Forum, held in Trinidad and Tobago in November 2009, which provided a good opportunity to develop the natural position of the region as a facilitator for linkages between Commonwealth and American countries. The 2011 Forum will provide an ideal platform to develop new trade and business relationships in key economic sectors in the region. Given the challenges of the global economic slowdown, economic diversification is an imperative for future sustainability and prosperity. The world economy has moved from a bipolar to a multi-polar environment in which the new dynamic is focused around more flexible and diverse economic partnerships. The important role now played by the G20 Group of countries in global economic management reflects this new global context. The Forum will therefore address innovative approaches to leverage competitive advantage in the region through enhanced trade and investment relationships. It will also highlight the role of new middle income countries as economic hubs. We look forward to participation from a wide range of countries, from the Commonwealth and beyond, each bringing a regional as well as national dimension to the Forum. I urge you to make every effort to participate in this important event and I look forward to welcoming you to Port of Spain.

Do Business with 36 Countries at The Trade & Investment Convention 2011! The Trade & Investment Convention (TIC) is the region’s biggest business-to-business event. The Convention includes a tradeshow with 200 booths, a business education programme and structured networking events. It brings together pre-qualified investors, buyers (wholesalers, distributors and retailers) and manufacturers and service providers from around the world. This year TIC will take place from June 15th – 18th, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain. Each year, TIC generates an estimated US$50 million in trade — including deals facilitated on the tradeshow floor and post-convention business expected as a result of sales leads generated by business-to-business networking at the Convention. TIC is a fully international business forum with participation by businesses from 35 countries. The Convention’s goal is to bring together exhibitors and local, regional and international business buyers and the event facilitates immediate business transactions on the tradeshow floor, which range from orders for containers of goods to new overseas distribution agreements. TIC Exhibitors are given the opportunity to promote their products and services directly to qualified buyers with genuine purchasing power and influence from around the world. On display will be the best of Trinidad and Tobago, alongside pavilions from China, the United Kingdom, Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic and Brazil, as well as exhibits from Barbados, Bermuda, Bolivia, Canada, the European Union, India, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, South Africa, the USA and many other countries.
