The second wave of slaves were brought from Africa to Jamaica by the British.

1796, July

The Maroons set sail for Nova Scotia on the Dover, the Anne and the Mary.

1796, JuneThe Maroons arrived in Nova Scotia.

1797

The British government in Jamaica ceased funding of welfare of the Maroons in Nova Scotia.

1799

Conversations begin between the British government in Nova Scotia and the British government in Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone Company is hesitant about receiving the Maroons because of their rebellious reputation and because so few of the Maroons have converted to Christianity. They eventually agreed to allow them entrance once convinced by the British that the Maroons were hard working and would not be a burden on their society.

1800, August

Approximately 550 Maroons set sail on the Asia destined for Freetown, Sierra Leone.
