PROJECT 01 Toronto Waterfront Nature Interpretive Centre
YIN AND YANG Studio & Period: Architectural Technology & Studio 4 Instructor: Pietro Ferrari, Brentwood Jolley About project We focused on open space and optimizing nature’s beauty as much as possible. This is represented in the floor plan, where the corridors are not enclosed, but spacious and wide. The majority of the exterior walls consist of glazed curtain walls. We enhanced this transparent realm between the interior and exterior by incorporating wood facade walls. The cafeteria faces the water, while the multimedia classrooms and hostel face towards the forestry. Following the shape, the parking surrounds the building. This is meant for a cohesive look for the entire interpretative center, from the parking to the structure itself. No matter where you are, nature will constantly thrive in all directions. Will you embark on this journey of endless beauty at yin and yang?

SITE PLAN & ANALYSIS topography/physical aspects: Toronto harbor commissioners (THC) followed a 3 phase design in the creation of Tommy Thompson park; the eastern headland, the peninsulas on the north side, and the indictment. there are environmentally significant areas (ESA) that feature wildlife specifies. wildlife includes the presence of migrant bird staging areas, significant nesting areas, and nationally, provincially, and regionally rare plant species.

DESIGN CONCEPT yin and yang was designed to preserve nature’s beauty without disturbing any of its natural habitats and species. in all directions, visitors will feel a combination of the breeze from the waterfront and greenery from the abundant trees. on the north side, there is the infamous Toronto skyline. on the south, there sits lake Ontario.

MICROHOME Studio & Period: Architectural Technology & Studio 3 Instructor: Pietro Ferrari, Brentwood Jolley About project This project was needed to be sustainable and utilized the small gross floor area near Simcoe Lake. This microphone embodies aesthetic and sustainable materials with remarkable natural light and finishes of cedar siding, modern stucco, reclaimed wood. Furthermore, Halio Smart Glass, Tesla solar tiles, and water tank using Lake Simcoe water make this microhome to be more eco-friendly. 31 sq.m gross floor area is utilized - living room, kitchen, full bathroom, and sleeping area.

THE HAVEN HOUSE Studio & Period: Architectural Technology & Studio 2 Instructor: Gianni Regina, Jennifer Zand About project This project needs us to design a sustainable house for the client’s family members. The proposed house should be built based on zoning by law and Ontario building code. The client has his (her) own family and likes to invite his (her) friends often so enough size of the dining room and setting were required. The house embodies a warm and comforting presence with remarkable natural lighting and premium stucco, wood, and stone finishes. The exterior is inspired by traditional designs, while the interior is hardly conventional. Minimal and spacious rooms coupled with sustainable features will be the perfect home to call your haven.

LASAGNI RESIDENCES Studio & Period: Architectural Technology & Studio 5 Instructor: Marlene Slopack About project Lake inside and outside. This residence plus a commercial building allows a direct connection with the lake through big openings, balcony areas, and landscaped recreational areas. The concept of the geometry of the building was inspired by organic shapes. The curvature of the balconies is directly related to the waves of the lake. Big openings, big energy efficiency. This building uses opening as an advantage, with the tesla solar panels and smart glass windows to regulate indoor comfort, prevention of heat loss or heat gain, and recycle its resources. All in one design. This building is composed of 8 residential levels, one amenities floor that includes entertainment plus recreational spaces, the main level with retail spaces, 3 underground parking levels including bicycle parking, and outdoor recreational areas.

PROJECT 05 Steel Frame Structure Project
WAREHOUSE Studio & Period: Architectural Technology & Studio 4 Instructor: Pietro Ferrari, Brentwood Jolley About project This project needed to be designed and built with steel constructions with curtain walls. According to the Ontario building code, this warehouse was designed based on occupancy types, occupancy load, fire safety features. This project was a huge one. not to be late, we started to separate our parts and deadline first. After then, we made all grid lines, we decided the types, colors, and constructions of the curtain wall. Furthermore, whenever we found something we all should consider, someone who found out that put the pinned message in our group chat to make all read immediately. Whatever we did, we tried to finish way earlier than our deadlines.

GARDEN IN HOME Studio & Period: Architectural Technology & Studio 6 Instructor: Steffanie Adams About project The design concept of our group is “Garden” where they can give us a feeling of “rest and peace” rather than “assisted living unit”. The green color that we can easily see in the garden can provide psychological stability to both the dementia patient and family protector, simple & warm design. In addition, eco-friendly features such as wood floors make social intersection easier, so it can keep their active social life. Lastly, garden concept design can make artificial and rigid residential life much more comfortable, soft, and lively resting place.
