FROM A LIFE OF PAIN TO a Passion for Learning
You could hardly call it “living.” Little Raphael and his mother rented a one-room house in the slums of Kenya, where wholesome, nourishing food is an extravagance. Every day was a struggle to survive as unimaginable trauma dogged this young boy.
Before Raphael was born, his father left the home. Later on, Raphael was forced to fend for himself after his mother was put in jail for selling alcohol. He was also locked up inside his house by the landlord when the rent went unpaid.
Praise God that Raphael was rescued by your love when a local school— sponsored by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise—invited him to attend. The school offered financial help, counseling, and nutritious meals. With his teachers’ encouragement and Raphael’s ambition to someday become a pilot, his initial fear of failure vanished and hope for a brighter future was born!
