A Brief Overview of SFP Transceiver Type and Advantages SFP stands Small Form-factor Pluggable transceiver. It's a pluggable version of SFF. SFP are ruled by multisource agreements (MSA) from some main network element vendors resembling Agilent, IBM, Lucent, Siemens, Infineon, AMP/Tyco, and others.

This device interfaces a network device CPU board (such as a switch, router, media convertor, and others) to a fibre optic or copper networking cable. SFP transceivers are used for telecommunications and knowledge communications. And that they support SDH/SONET, Gigabit local area network, Fibre Channel, etc.

Benefits Since it's pluggable, this makes it possible to change the optical interface at the last step of card manufacturing. It is also possible to accommodate totally different instrumentation interfaces or a mixture of SX and LX SFP.A SFP cage is surface mounted to the PCB board to simply accept the transceiver. This not solely provides simple replacement and reconfiguration, but also eliminates further manufacturing steps and reduces value.

SFP Types SFP transceiver is available for both single mode fibre and multimode fibre. They're designed with 850nm VCSEL optical maser on 550m multimode fibre (SX), 1310nm optical maser over 10km single mode fibre (LX), 1550nm optical maser over 40km (XD), 80km (ZX), 120km (EX or EZX) single mode fibre and DWDM transceivers. Small Form-Factor Pluggable Transceiver (SFP) Also known as SFP, this type of transceiver or PLC splitter is compact and may be promptly used for telecommunications functions.

This way, direct communication between two or more computers is made possible. SFP is ideal for file sharing, relaying data to a large number of network users, and building a shared virtual workplace space.
