Buses
Transport Canberra’s bus service now offers a new zeroemission electric bus fleet that will continue to expand throughout 2023 and 2024 as part of a frequent and reliable bus network connecting you to all major routes within the city. Bus Route 3 connects to the airport for the price of a standard single ticket. The Red Explorer Loop Bus offers a hop on hop off service, departing from the city and taking passengers to Canberra’s major attractions including Australian War Memorial, National Gallery of Australia, Questacon, National Library of Australia, High Court of Australia, National Portrait Gallery, Old Parliament House (MoAD), Australian Parliament House, National Museum of Australia, multiple embassies, and more.
Light Rail
Supporting Canberra’s goal of a zero emissions future, the light rail connects you from North Canberra to the CBD with a fast, frequent, and comfortable journey along Northbourne Avenue. Construction of Stage 2 is underway, extending the line to Commonwealth Park, and eventually connecting to Woden and South Canberra.

For electric vehicle (EV) drivers, the ACT is at the forefront in developing infrastructure for charging stations on major routes to and from the ACT, ensuring that Canberra is a leading EV friendly destination. With 30 charge stations, the ACT has the highest concentration of stations per square kilometre in Australia and will be expanding the network with a further 77 stations through 2023.
