AWARD-WINNING RESTAURANTS

With a focus on seasonal, local produce, Canberra’s restaurant scene is bursting with culinary delights to suit all tastes. Enjoy the ultimate paddock-to-plate experience at the stunning Pialligo Estate, impress guests with relaxed fine dining and cutting-edge cuisine at Sage Dining Rooms, or watch the sun set over Lake Burley Griffin and languish over special occasion dining at The Boat House. If you’re after more of a buzz, tuck into Asian-inspired bites amongst the bright neon lights of Akiba or indulge in authentic Italian fare at Agostinis.

WINERIES, BREWERIES AND DISTILLERIES

One of the most exciting up-and-coming wine areas in the country, the Canberra District Wine Region is home to 140 vineyards and more than 30 cellar doors. Taste the cool climate wines and soak up the vineyard views at Shaw Wines or Contentious Character. For spirits lovers, keep an eye out for the handcrafted range by Underground Spirits on menus around town, or sit amongst the brewery and enjoy a fresh beer on tap at BentSpoke Brewing Co or Capital Brewing Co.

TRUFFLE EXPERIENCES

Canberra’s surrounds make for some of the best truffle-growing regions in the country. During the cooler months, follow a truffle dog on a hunt to witness first-hand how they track down and dig up the expensive black funghi, or enjoy a truffle feast at a range of venues around town during the region’s iconic Canberra Truffle Festival, taking place from June to August every year

NIGHTLIFE

You can keep your evening going after a function with a nightcap at one of Canberra’s many bars. For a cosy tipple, follow the coordinates to speakeasy Molly, work your way through the wine list at Parlour, or unwind at the moody and seductive Midnight Bar. For a more tropical experience, try barrel-aged cocktails at Cuban bar The Highball Express, or an eye-catching cocktail at the lively Kokomo’s.
