Faculty Spotlight

I have been interested in education since I was a young child myself! My favorite thing to play as a child was “school” and I was always the teacher. I babysat at an early age, and one of my first jobs in high school was working as a teacher’s aide for a local private school. In college, I worked as a preschool assistant to earn extra money. As I earned my bachelor’s degree and became a wife and mother myself, I knew that I wanted to work in a career that allowed me to serve children and families.I believe that education is powerful and transformative. Throughout my own educational career, I have been fortunate to learn from so many gifted and compassionate educators. They have taught me, encouraged me, loved me, and believed in me, even when I did not. My goal is to pass these priceless gifts on to my own students.

My scholarship explores many topics, but much of it centers on adult learning. As a college educator, I believe I can make the most impact by supporting the growth, learning, and development of teachers and leaders who will serve child and families. Prior to working in higher education, I had a long professional career. I worked with children from birth to first grade in both private and public school settings as a teacher and leader. I was also a parent educator and administrator of early childhood programs. I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with so many children and families and continue to cherish these memories.
