The Master of Healthcare Administration program is an interdisciplinary degree that provides both a philosophical and theoretical background in relevant management principles. Candidates receive valuable training to meet current and future trends in healthcare. 01

Coursework addresses the immediate needs of healthcare organizations, and program participants receive an educational experience designed to explore the application of theory and practice. 02

What does Asynchronous mean?

CBU’s asynchronous class format means our online programs provide the maximum amount of flexibility for a minimum amount of interruption to your busy schedule. Additionally, the 8-week format means you can complete your degree twice as fast as a traditional semester schedule.

A: One of the most rewarding aspects of working in the healthcare industry is the opportunity to positively impact people’s lives by improving their health outcomes, providing care and support during challenging times and contributing to the overall well-being of individuals and communities.

Faculty Spotlight

Janet Bonome, DrPH

Dr. Janet Bonome has worked in healthcare for the last twenty years with experience in hospital administration, academia, and research. Her areas of interest and expertise include healthcare quality and performance improvement, information technology, health services research, and project management. Dr. Bonome has varied research interests ranging from maternal and child health to social determinants of health to reducing barriers to healthcare access. Dr. Bonome received her Doctorate in Public Health degree in Health Education and Master of Public Health from Loma Linda University.

Professional education and mentorship are Dr. Bonome’s passions, as she finds joy making a meaningful impact on both the professional and personal growth of the mentee; helping him/her navigate challenges or obstacles resulting in the completion of projects and achieving their goals. Some of her most memorable, rewarding, and gratifying events in her career have involved mentoring, particularly leadership mentoring of our next generation leaders. Dr. Bonome has multiple certifications in healthcare and public health, including the Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), Certification in Public Health (CPH), and Project Management Professional (PMP).

If you have questions about specific continuing education opportunities, certifications, or advanced education, she would love to share her experiences and learn about your interests as a student. Dr. Bonome looks forward to getting to know each student and their unique career interests and personalities as part of our learning community.

Admissions Requirements

Application for admission with a $45 application fee.

Official transcript from an accredited college or university reflecting the completion of a baccalaureate degree.

2.75 cumulative or last 60/90 unit GPA. Additional opportunities may be available for a student to overcome an unsatisfactory GPA.

Written statement of purpose OR in-person/virtual program interview (student’s choice). Written statement (500-word maximum) or interview will address:

• What are your educational goals?

• How will this program help meet those goals?

• What makes you a good fit for CBU?

Additional requirements may be requested.

Prerequisites

Completed with a “C” or better: ACC 250 Principles of Accounting I (or equivalent).
